Subject: Plea for Help: Figure Hair and Netwherwork's Hair Conversion System

Glasswren ( ) posted Fri, 26 October 2007 at 5:22 PM · edited Sun, 04 August 2024 at 8:56 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Poser has defeated me, I need reinforcements badly. Please, help me if you can. :)
I have tried this more than a dozen times and I am at a loss. I don't know what I do wrong. To have any clue what I am trying to say, you'd need to have the .pdg Hair Conversion System Guide open. I think they are all the same, but right now I am struggling with Miki2, in case that makes a difference.

I am following the instructions to the letter (as far as I can see). Everything seems to work, just fine until Part 4: Export the Hair.

I believe the problem is with Part 5: Preparing the cr2. (But it could be earlier.) Everything seems to work until I try it out.

Result: Nothing visible appears although Poser does tell me there is 'New Hair' figure there.

And I haven't even gotten to the hard parts yet... Help, please.

Which hair is it?

Some hairs, I've found do not convert with the Netherworks hair system. It's usually a matter of the body parts the hair includes (or, more to the point does not include). IIRC, among the ones that I've tried that didn't convert... Longhair Story, Sylphiad Hair, Zeony Hair... Sorry, it's been a while, memory ain't what it used to be.

Load the hair before you attempt to convert it and make sure it has a head body part. I think that was the problem.

Thanks, Kalon. :)
I know that additional bodyparts make conversion impossible. This hair is 'Natsumy' and it had no strange ones. (Hip, Abdomen, Chest,Neck, Head)

There is just something I do wrong ...every time. blush

Well... what I learned during my earlier misadventures is... when it's not working out, load the two cr2s (original and converted) side by side and try to align the converted CR2 to the content of the original.

BTW, I've tried Natsumy to Miki 2, with the same result, so I'm currently following my own advice. I'll let you know if it works out.

I have to honestly confess that I am not entirely sure what this means and how it is done.

This, however, is a slight consolation. If I am not the only one then maybe, just maybe, there is a reason why it did not work.

If you could give me some examples of figure hair that does convert, I could try to see if I can do it too. :)

Well, this wretched hair is irritating me. I brought up both the original CR2 and my new conversion, and made changes so they would match (deleted out unused body parts, changed the figure and part references to "2" instead of "1" added conforming target lines where I saw them in the original, corrected the weld order. After two or three crashes of Poser, I managed to load a visible figure. Conform? Not quite it's hovering over her head.

On a whim, I tried converting the hair to Sydney. I didn't have to go through all the CR2 hacking drama (leading me to believe their might be something off in that Miki 2 CR2 set up file (this was my first time using the Miki kit). There were no visibility issues with the Sydney conversion, but the fit is not right. Could be morphs.

Figure Hair I've converted with no problem... Beauty Queen by Neftis, Stefany by Lisbeth, Jada Hair (at DAZ), Shigi Hair, Primal Hair by Danae...

I'll be back after I check...

Thanks. I will try Shigi. :)

I don't have V4 to Sydney conversion, just to Jessi and Miki. Maybe why it won't fit completely?

kalon ( ) posted Sat, 27 October 2007 at 3:03 PM

Well I'm using the Jessi version to fit Sydney. It's worked in the past.

I checked, there are no fit morphs in this hair (natsumy), nor are there injections. The fit is as if the magnets were not used at all and it's still at V4's height.

sigh My attempt with Shigi was the same. I'm ready to bound my head on the keyboard. I just canot quit trying...but I can take a break. I need a good night's sleep. :)
