Subject: Poser 7 Render(tear-off) problem.

I 've been using Poser 7 for a while and now I have a problem. When I use the Render screen (tear -off) button (png). I'm now getting a black background instead of the imported background . This is new behavior. Any ideas on why this is happening? Mac 10.4 Tiger.

you should check out in your rendering setting on the right side  if you  :: render over background image::

If you're talking about opening it in Preview and there's no background picture - yes I have the same problem. I don't know when it started but it's a PITA. I have to keep opening Photoshop instead. I wonder if it was some system update from Apple that did it.

As far as I know that's normal poserbehaviour. Always as I save as PNG-file, poser doesn't save the background, you can avoid that by saving it as a JPG-picture.

Yes, that's just how Preview is showing alpha channels in PNG files. As PilotHigh writes, other programs will give you access to all the data in that file.

stewer the preview in the windows map don't show the alpha channels in png files but I hear here many pple talking about that if you export image as png and open with photoshop there is not background... I do have and see always backgrounds in my png images or tiff not matter in the preview, photoshop or tear-off in poser....

I always save a 'tear off' render as tiff on my Mac. When I open in Preview there is no background - when I open in Photoshop the background is there.

I had this problem when i installed for the first time poser7 as well a time ago on PC.. after I made a new installation on different machine the problem was gone... I do not know why it was like that but now everything works fine as well.. There was more funny things like for example, I can view all the preview render the same way as it was in the preview in the material room.. the scaled textures was also scaled in the preview poser room, colors, specular etc.., and everything else.. but now it is gone too.. so what for mystery , I know I installed something from Microsoft for games that change the poser7 preview window dramatic.. but can't remember what it was...to much crap on my old PC..
Stewer you know more about that ? I know you do.. lol

Did you have the "hardware shading" checkbox in the preview render settings checked on your old machine? If you have a good enough graphics card, that will use the card's programmable shaders to run the material room's shader trees in hardware and preview things like procedural textures in real-time. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card, then check that checkbox.

Thank you, you know all programs do that as well without any problems but the last time i had this happen in poser, the procedural textures was showing only if I selected the display view of the object to Smooth shaded a little bit mess at all but any way I do not have to render the scene all the time to preview the scaled  textures b/c the preview in material room is not accurate to the final rendering until you render your scene with Pixel Samples set to 38.. I did check-in and poser don't react to this no more and all drivers are up to date as usual..  my OpenGL poser preview is very nice and objects showing beautiful so also the texture details but the scaled textures don't show up in the preview poser window as only in the material room as usual
