Subject: Conversion Utility

**Conversion Utility:
**
What is it? Where is it found?? How do you use it to convert???
I keep getting little pop-up windows when I open certain object
folders and/ro material folders. The little window will state that
Vue is unable to open the files created with Vue d'Esprit 3.1 or
earlier and to use the Conversion Utility to convert them to Vue6
before I proceed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
and would save loads of time having to click through the 3 to 5
little windows just to open liquids, rocks  and some object folders.
Thanks,
Thelby

It'll be on your installation CD and it's for convertiing files older than V4

Apparently, according to stuff I've read here, it ships with one or another ver. of Vue but as I have only had the demos I can't actually say....

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

It's not included with my downloaded version.   I'd like to know where to get it because I have the same problem.

It's in mine - look in the folder named 'Tools'

Edited to say, look in the installation folder itself not the programme folder in program files :)

Make sure you all backup up those before converting - as sometimes it causes errors & fubars the item!  Also, remember it is a 3rd party item so if it messes up your stuff reporting to EON is useless.

The best way to convert older objects is to try to find an old copy of Vue 4 - from one of those magazine offers for example.

Vue 4 imports thing a lot better than that conversion utility.

Hmmm, Sounds Serious!!! I am able to use everything currenty I just keep having to click through the windows that Pop-up time after time, after time and after nearly a year with Vue it is my only Annoyance and it is Annoying!!! But if the Conversion Utility is a 3rd Party App, and causes Fubars then perhaps it is better to be a bit Annoyed rather than cause some complications  #^P  cause one thing is for sure, my Vue runs like a Champ  **:^D

Ok back home now. The only Conversion Utility I can find is one that is "Scene Conversion Utility", is that the correct one to use? And should I Convert the specific folders in question or should I put the entire main folder in there and hope for the best??? I do have it all back-uped!!!
Thanks In Advance!!!

OK, just finished the Conversion of the 3 folders in question in my Vue6 Esprit and when I went ot check they opened as natural as all the other files, so it would appear that everything is Terrific in Fubarland  ;^)
