Can poser be used to make a object glow, or do you have to use another application, such as Photoshop, to do that?

Nope, you can do it in Poser.  The simplest way is to set the Ambient_Color to anything other than black, and Ambient_Value to a positive, non zero number.  The higher the number, the more intense the effect.

If, however, you want the glowing object to illuminate the surroundings, you'll need to either use the Gather node on the surfaces which should be illuminated, or a Point Light.

Thanks for the links! I tried using search to see if there was already a thread on this topic, but nothing came up.
