Subject: Do these have any impact on the rendering speed?

Hi!

My intent is to create this thread as a future refference for everyone who might be interested in these informations, so feel free to post!

Do these have any impact on the rendering speed in Poser 7 (or Poser in general)?
1.Videocard, wich of these : RAM size (128 MB, 256MB, 512MB), RAM speed, card processor speed, RAM type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3), videocard bandwidth (64 bit, 128 bit, 256 bit)?
2.RAM memory : RAM size (512MB, 1GB, 2GB), RAM speed (DDR800, DDR1066, DDR1333), RAM type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3)?
 - I have noticed that the memory has a great impact for example, in Adobe Photoshop but no to very little in rendering engines (Poser too), but maybe you have a different opinion...
3.Processor : L2 cache memory, FSB (800 MHz, 1066 MHz, 1333 MHz)?
4.Do the dual core or the quad core processors have any impact?Poser knows how to use them?

Do you have any links to test graphs that show the differences?
Thank you in advance!

Best regards!

The video card doesn't play any part in the actual render process.  More and faster VRAM will certainly make poser more responsive but won't affect the render speed directly.

IIRC, the Processor has the most impact on render times 'cos that's what does all the maths etc.  RAM helps you not to get OOM errors etc

Poser will definately use both cores of a Core2Duo when rendering because that's what I'm running here.  Dunno about Quads - I can't afford one :)

I'd like to add a question about speed here too. Does using the option : " render in separate process" increase speed with dual core processors ? (I'm trying with two processes selected at the moment).

Or does it just help when multitasking, having other programs working at same time ?

Hoping you don't mind my little intrusion here
