I would look at the Adobe® site for a forum that deals specifically with AfterEffects® integration with Photoshop® as the besy source.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

You can create elements in Photoshop and bring them into After Effects for animating, compositing, etc. And vice versa.

You can go to Adobe's site, or order any of a number of tutorial videos from www.digital-tutors.com, www.videocopilot.net (who also has anumber of FREE tuts), www.totaltraining.com, www.classondemand.net, etc.
After Effects is very basically Photoshop for video and film - moving instead of still, although many people bring their images into After Effects for certain effects that require special plugins (Trapcode plugins, and GenArts are very popular) to either creat elements (to THEN bringinto Photoshop for final compositing) or finish.

This image was brought into AE for thesunlight haze and "Godrays", then BACK into Photoshop forfinal compositing, and tweaking - and to cut back some of the effect of the Godrays which were fairly overwhelming. YES, I could have done that in AE, but masking is easier and more precise for still images (as well as being a much more robust and indepth tool - masking, that is) in PS.

What is it you want to do?
