Ok, so maybe finishing a render motivated me to do another. Maybe looking through half finished things was a worthy trip. Maybe answering postings in the forum made me miss this place. Or maaaaybe...I'm gone completely mad. All I know is I've already posted as many pics to my gallery in `08 as I did in all of `07!!

And while we're on the subject of metaballs....
My little avatar/icon guy was an all metaball creation too. A "political" statement at the time...but he stuck.

That's a strong piece of work with metaballs. Fantastic all around. Your Avatar is a charmer too.

Indeed and your avatar is a very good comment for some of the insanely repetitive posters in someof the galleries here,,,wish it was one of the 'smilies'.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound

Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

That's great!  I knew I'd seen him before somewhere.  Lol.

(Oh, and it's definitely because you're a bit nuts- for which I am profoundly greatful... lol)

Which version of Bryce did you use? I have the latest and it crashes when I use more than 2.

It would be great to know if there is a tute on metaballs to do thinks like that.

The link above is an old forum posting that contains some metaball info. In particular there is a picture that shows how metaballs react to each other.
I think it probably says it in there but to create a negative metaball you hold down the shift key when you create.

This second link is another old forum post that has a short tut on mapping texturs to metaballs, specifically trying to get an image texture to map in a specific location or direction.

Another in the series of discussion on mapping textures to metaballs.

Hope those help.

I'm using Bryce 6.0 as far as I can tell..not sure what patches have been applied or not applied.

** Metaballs are some crazy stuff. You must be the most patient man alive.  To do that in Bryce I would have to have a multipane viewport setup.**

Metaballs can be great fun, I've done the odd piccy with thousands of the things, but Ornlu's Fluid sims always spring to mind, one of the other really cool things with metas is the way they can blend textures as well as shape.
