Subject: Converting Dynamic to Conforming?

regaltwo ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2008 at 11:16 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 4:43 AM

I know the answer to this may be obvious, but...  I've seen tuts on how to convert conforming clothing to dynamic, but I haven't seen any on how to convert dynamic clothing to conforming.  I assume (usually a mistake) that I would treat it like an obj that I imported and start doing the grouping thing?  Any good tuts on this?

yes, you have to start with an OBJ, as if it was modelled in some other 3D applicaton.
Aside from the modelling part, it's almost like making a piece from scratch.
Any particular reason you would want to do this?

Thanks for the responses guys.  Bastblack, I assume you're talking about some technique or something, and not World War II?

Wardrobe Wizard 2, made by philC. It's one of the 'must have' utilities for poser.

(I have it, but I have to admit, I haven't gotten around to using the new version yet)

lol. Yes, Wardrobe Wizard 2 can read a Dynamic Cloth pp2 and convert it into a conforming clothing. Daz Studio users are already doing that so they can use dynamic clothing too (but as a conforming figure instead). ^^ bB

Word of warning: Some clothing will just not look as good in a conforming version as it does in the dynamic version. Things like long coats, dresses, etc. Mainly the "flowing with the wind" sort of clothing. There are tricks of course, but unless you have a gazillion morphs, the result will never look quite as nice.
If you don't mind the time it takes to calculate dynamic clothing, I'ld stick to dynamic for those items.
