Subject: OT Looking for website beta testers about Poser artworks

mtone ( ) posted Tue, 22 January 2008 at 1:16 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 5:58 AM

Hello everyone, I'm planning to launch a website about poser artworks and I need 15 - 20 artists to start it off and beta test the site.

The site will have a daily theme. Each theme consists of a few criteria. If you have an artwork that fits all the criteria, you can submit it as an entry. If the members voted your artwork as the best one among those that were submitted, then you'll receive a point. If you have at least 5 points within a month, then I'll give you a $5 Renderosity gift certificate.

If you have any questions, then feel free to send me a Site Mail. Thanks.

I already posted this under the Jobs board in this link: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2727494 but probably a lot of you do not visit that board so I thought that I should post this in the Poser board.

Just a couple of things

Have you run anything like this before?

what will be the upload & down load speed of the propsed site? what country will it be based in?

Who keeps copy right on any artwork submitted?

How do you plan on stopping what happened here when friends keep voting the same artists in time after time?

No, but I have run many websites before. I have not run a 3D art site which is why I want to start a site that's related about 3D artworks.

It doesn't matter where the art is hosted. A member can upload it on the site or a member can post a URL link to the artwork that he or she wants to enter.

The artist keeps the copyright.

I know something like this would definitely happen sooner and later which is why I need members for the beta phase of the site. So, I will ask their opinions on this issue once a few days or a week has passed when they know the daily routine.

they may also log on under multiple usernames to vote for themselves repeatedly.
be certain to check IP addresses to avoid click fraud or vote fraud, but even IP
logging is not fail-safe.
what is the site URL?

I don't want to reveal the website URL at the moment. If you are wondering whether it will have any adult content, the answer is a definite no. It will be a PG-13 or under site.

I'm extending the deadline since I don't have at least 15 beta members yet. The new deadline is Jan 29.

to be honest with you, i think the not revealing of the URL is what would put most people off, as it stands the majority of members in this forum will post here also, they saw this site before they decided to post their images here, decided they like the layout of the place, the look of the galleries, and or had made some friends in the forums who may of encouraged them to start posting in the galleries.

now you have posted this request a few times in different forums with very little interest, which i would think is as a result of not having a link to your site, i also don't think having a deadline to apply for a beta position, for a not yet to be revealed site is helping much either,

it just comes across as though you have something to gain from this, but members here will see it as they probally wouldn't have anything to gain from helping you out with your site, how could they expect to get an increase of traffic to their galleries if the site is so secretive, if you see what i mean.

anyway, none of the above is meant as an attack on you, i just think you are going about this in totally the wrong way, and i think you may as well take a gamble and reveal your URL, as as soon as you do you will probally start getting some feedback, like initial impressions at least, maybe followed by some interest in more info etc...

anyway good luck with it.
