***The only sign that there is anything there at all is a slight change in the sandstone cliff, a slightly flatter area, smoother. A spread of cliff face carven flat with ancient tools.

Then the moon shines and the silvery rays hit the stone, infusing the dormant magic that dwells there, the living power that cannot resist the light of the moon and, with a shimmer, the ancient runes shine like an arch of sapphires and the intricate design, fashioned aeons ago, reveals the presence of a doorway.
 

Then the massive double doors swing open and the eye is drawn through the cavernous opening to the long lost stairway beyond, following the slime and moss slick stones down in to the darkness, to see just what lies beyond the forbidden door.....
