Subject: Your Vue must have tools are?

grichter ( ) posted Sun, 02 March 2008 at 12:41 PM · edited Wed, 08 January 2025 at 7:19 AM

Been using Vue for a very short time. Only addon tool I have purchased and used so far is SkinVue (very impressive tool).

In your opinion, what are other must have tools for Vue?

Is there a python script anywhere that changes the material highlighted color from black to white (or some chosen color) in mass on mulit selected poser imported items?

TIA

Not sure why you need to a script because, as far as I know, if you select multiple objects and set the preview colour all of the selected objects preview colours should change.  However because it was an easy one to knock out from bits of scripts I already have...

Let me know if I've missunderstood what you were after and I'll see what I can do.

chippwalters makes some really good tools and material packages. Here's the link:

I wouldn't say they are "must" for the average user but, depending on your needs, it may be.

There are others really good material packages, like SeaVue or "Postcard from the Rim" and others from monsoon, for sale in 3DCommune (http://www.3dcommune.com/3d/store/display.mv?vs_mons_vuemt)

But if you're using Vue for a short time, you probably have still a lot to explore. I would recommend you to explore it deeper before you go to other stuff. I've been using Vue intensively for little over one year, I made 200 images and I still find new stuff inside of Vue everyday... :-)

Just remembered one thing:
Not a Vue tool but rather a Vue companion, I find GeoControl a "must have" for true Vue'ers. The quality of the terrains is far superior to what Vue can produce natively. Furthermore, you have lots of different possibilities.

It's not too cheap so in case you want to take a look at some examples, I have lots of images in my gallery with Geocontrol generated terrains.

Thanks impish, have used the shift select mulit items to do other things. In my excitementt over the results I am getting I guess I need to stop and think once and a while :)

Thanks Rutra, glanced at the grid modeler before. Now that I have the program I see how I could use it for an upcoming project. Have to explore the other stuff

Again thanks

What version of Vue do you have? I would for sure say GeoControl.I have been using Vue for roughly 5 years,and just recently started with GeControl and it is something i would never do without again.SkinVue also rocks if your into Poser content(;

Just got Vue6 Inf. (6.60-4) And yes I am into Poser characters and content. Want to do, I won't call them landscapes, but rather outdoor scenes with poser and or other .obj file content added to make them more interesting based on what I desire to create. Based on following this forum on and off for a bit, first purchase was SkinVue based on everyones forums comments and going over their website with a fine tooth comb.

What I have been able to find on the GeoControl website, my Intel chips don't power the right OS.
