Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 17 1:30 pm)
At least in P7, you don't have to change the refs. When Poser is told
by a figure or prop to load an OBZ or an OBJ, it looks for both and
transparently picks whichever one is present. (If both, I suppose
it takes the OBZ first; probably doesn't matter.)
I haven't checked this in earlier versions...

Compressing and uncompressing doesn't change any references. Poser reads a compressed file just like it does an uncompressed one.
To uncompress your geometries go to your "uncompress" python script, browse to the geometries folder that has the geometry files that you want to uncompress. You can also pick a sub folder inside it instead of the whole geometries folder. Select it. And put a checkmark in the box for "uncompress geometries" files and also in the box "delete compressed files.
Then run the script.

There's a Python script provided with Poser 6 that will uncompress geometry files. It has the option to delete the compressed files after uncompressing them. This would be very useful to me for importing a current project into Vue 5 I (which doesn't recognise compressed files).
But does anyone know if it also updates all references to those files as well? (Silly question - of course someone knows!)
EG, if I were to run the script in Poser 6 and then try to load James, would he load? Or would I manually have to edit all/any .cr2 (or .hr2 etc.) files to point to the new geometry name?
What's my best way to go about uncompressing ALL my geometry files (and getting rid of the compressed files as well)?
Cheers,
Diolma
