electroglyph suggested I put the viewer in the scene more.  Here is an attempted to add emotion and closeness.  What suggestion do you have?

None whatsoever. What I saw was enough to have me glassy-eyed and have a lump in the throat as I read description and view the render. That is a very intense story-render you got there. Have you thought about sending it over to Animal Planet. I am sure they are looking for such art work.

very nicely done

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

The important thing in the scene is that the pining wolf is entering the scene giving the impression of discovery. Had you put the complete wolf in the scene it would not have conveyed the same powerful image. I hope this wasn't just by accident, because then I would look forward to more work from you.

The scene doesn't give me an emotional hit personally as I tend to look at art objectively, but as an artistic work, it's quite impressive.
