So if you copy Bryce from C:Program FilesBryce to D:Program Files or D:Bryce works??  Self Contained Programs are hard to find these days.

Indeed so it would seem. As it turned out I had dropped the whole of my Program Files in a folder labeled ONYX tree where I had 3 Romulus trees I wanted to save, and didn't notice it was there till I was sorting my TG2 resources out yesterday. There it was grinnin like a she devil that it some times is sayin...I dare ya t try an spark me up...LOL. I got so excited I haven't gone back to see what else golden survived the migration, heh heh heh..looking just now I see Bantam,Grass Scatter abd Twig there as well as an ancient ver. of Imagine3D, an app called gearmaker[which I recommend to all Brycers, available here in free stuff], an app called Food Additives which lists an amazing number of poisons they 'add ' to the food we buy, and my LAME mp3 encoder..woo hoo, thought I had to go out and get that again.. ...

We are all told to back everything up but no one stresses that we should REMEMBER that weve backed up, and where. LOL Poser is another app that is self contained. Got 3 copies of mine on three different drives. Im not going through that installation process again if I can help it.

mboncher ( ) posted Tue, 22 April 2008 at 11:20 AM

Oh this is awesome news!  Does anyone know if this can be done with Photoshop, Illustrator and Poser?  I need to do something like this myself.

dan whiteside ( ) posted Tue, 22 April 2008 at 11:58 AM

Oh yeah - Bryce is one of the easiest apps to move but most apps have to be re-authorized. Newer Adobe apps have to be done on-line but Poser just needs the serial number.
It least that's the way it works for me.🆒

The odd thing is I moved it to a completely different computer**.**..thought it had to register to the registry in the computer it was running on, hence my glee accompanied by relief.. ...

@bobbystahr: Where in free stuff can we find this "gearmaker"? And exactly what does it do?

Poser has always been able to be "transplanted" into my new OS installs, and yup my serial# and info go right over. Of course, I have only used up to version 5 of Poser, so I don't know about more recent versions.

Bryce 4 & 5 can be transplanted, although this stopped working for me after Bryce version 5.5, there is always some file it can't find, and I have to re-install the program.

can you tell I break my computers a lot and have to re-install my os?

Well I as well  have found, thru more thorough investigation that a bunch of stuff is missing like the Libraries in the Materials Lab, and a few other things I can't recall but still it's better than no Bryce at all.. ...

Yes it will work long as the operating system is the same on either hard-drive. My tech guy backs up my bryce program folder when he had to format my hard-drive cause of the new mother board, after installing the xp on the HDD he then copied bryce back into C:Program Files and it still working without any problams

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.
