I don't know your use of the term "portal". Can you show me a picture of what it's doing please?
Hi Pjz99,
Don't know what your settings are in the General Preferences, but you might want to take a look there. Go to Edit>General Preferences>Misc and uncheck "Use external binary morph targets" if that isn't already unchecked. I had this same problem before when I saved V4 in a PZ3.
It never opend and after doing the above solution, it was fixed.
Hope this is the solution in your case.
You know what, you're probably right, that does sound like it - I thought the OP was talking specifically about the Materials room.
If you are having this bug, it is very likely you have an older version of V4 that had bad morph data in at least one place that caused this kind of crash. Even with Use External Binary Morph Targets turned off, you may still have some problems. Since DAZ still does not seem to have gotten their installer really squared away, you may want to completely remove all V4 files, download a fresh version, and install only that. Contact DAZ tech support for a second opinion, or maybe someone else will give theirs here.

I hope I can make this simple enough to understand. I have been working with SmithMicro and Daz, so it comes down to whether or not it a Renderosity product problem. I wanted to try out the new V4.2, so I opened a file with a basic V4.2, a Renderosity texture, and a base pose to start with. I saved it to open another day. When I went to open it, it never showed up. I looked in the Materials room and nothing was there. The portal box never came up. At first I thought maybe it was memory intensive and was just taking to long. Finally I tried closing it. It asked if I wanted to save the file. I am thinking what file, since it was not visible.
I called Daz, they said it sounded like a Poser problem. Called SmithMicro and they are still working with me. While waiting to be able to send python scripts to SmithMicro, I tried several things. I tried using two of the character sets I got at Daz and even worked with three character sets that I got at Rendo (together and individually). The Daz characters that I saved came up within 20 seconds. The ones from Rendo never did show up. They did exactly what the original did. I put another character (V3) with the V4, with the Rendo textures, and they came up some time later than a minute or two. When I tried two V4's together, with one of each of the Daz or Rendo texture, it never showed up.
Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? I trust the vendors I bought from. I know that one of them sells with both companies. I would appreciate any help. Thank you and have a most lovely week!
Sincerely, Beth (dazed and confused)
