Nawww your not a geek, even if you speak Klignon, or your computer is worth more than your car. Your just a Trekki is all nothing wrong with that - live long and prosper my friend.
It's a guy thing that most women don't understand kinda like hunting, boxing, working on cars, you know it's like guys i.e. fathers and sons don't just go along hugging each other and saying " I love you " to each other all the time, or crying excessively at every little thing. It's a man thing is all - laughing. Now go call your ship and ask them to beam down some beer :O)
I see that bandolin wanted to know,
Am I a Geek?
It is entirely possible that the comic artist Aaron Williams (Nodwick, ps238, ...)
has been listening to us here.
Please read his blog-like entry for May 7, 2008
... I especially liked the front cover of "SF for Dummies".
Please enjoy ... and comment ...

LOL! This little gem from his blog was hilarious!

Very good commentary. There is another one along the same lines I read a couple of years ago but lost the link.
The title was something like:
"The top 10 sci fi movies that never were"

Today's online NYTimes had an art review about Superheroes
as a fashon statement ... I started a new thread,
Please Read "Superheros at the Metropolitan Museum" [NYTimes]

Interesting. Sounds great. Its funny how rarely it happens that spouses share exactly the same interests but remain married for years. It puts to question all those websites that match people based on compatibility. Apparently, compatibility has little to do with marital success whereas tolerability is a greater factor.

Greetings,
Even more recently, Aaron Wiliams blog mentioned a 'lost' Trek Episode.
Please read, view ... amd comment.

Wow, what a plug for a real product. It wasn't much of a parody at all. I wonder how Paramount let them get away with it. It must have been strictly an inhouse project.

this is my first post on this site. i am very picky. so you KNOW when i reply it has to be a good topic :)
both my spouse and i love sci-fi. we were raised in the 60's pretty much as flower children and intellectuals. 'geek' is usually an insult. i'm thinking you mean, 'nerd'.
sharing common interests (at least a few) is important. we share art, writing, love of nature, similar music and tv/movies. the only things he is into that i am not is gaming. and he renders while i do photography and fine arts. but we collaborate on art (his 3d and my 2d digital) and things turn out great. it will be 16 years this xmas eve for us so...
yes, i think 'sharing' is important. :)
now, as to your wife, maybe sit her down and have her watch a really good star trek episode or two ;) lots of females like sci-fi :)
~^..^~

I see that ladyfur suggested,
as to your wife, maybe sit her down and have her watch a really good star trek episode
... and that bandolin replied,
Not mine
In that case, I would suggest some (hilarious!) online comics that I follow ...
Girl Genius [madcap steampunk]
Buck Godot (Zapgun for Hire) [madcap, zaney, I don't know what!]
Questionable Content [Indie sitcom ... guaranteed belly laugh every 10 (or so) strips)]
... with a particularly strange example [link]
BTW, both Girl genius and Buck Godot (and other comics) are written by the husband and wife team of Phil and Kaja Foglio.

p.s. If she doesn't like these ... at least you'll get a good laugh.

So, we're spring cleaning our house and my wife is dusting. She accidentally breaks a model I made for my son (the NX-01 Enterprise).
One of the Warp Nacelles comes off. So, she's holding and trying to figure out how it goes on.
I say: "You're holding the Warp Nacelle upside down and backwards."
She says: "What?"
"The Warp Nacelle. Look at the one on the Port side. Its identical.Use it as a reference."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"You're holding the Starboard Nacelle. Its the same as the Port Nacelle. Flip it and turn it around."
She looks at me as if I'm speaking Chinese.
I say: "You're holding the starboard Warp Nacelle. There are two them. Its what makes the starship go. The engines? Look at the other one, it'll show you how they are supposed to be installed."
She says: "OMG, I'm married to a geek."
I shrug my shoulders and think to myself, I'm not a geek am I? Isn't this stuff common knowledge?
