I work on Poser 7 on WinXp and it happend already a few times before, but I don't know how to fix it.

PLEASE look at the picture and you know what I mean....

When I posed V3 (with a pose without any morphs or so) (and no bodypart is locked and IK is OFF), when I then try to move her hand ... it happens like you can see on the screenshot. ...
Total distortion of her hand and fingers. Its like they are sticking to her leg.

And the same happend to me already a few times with V3 feet and legs and arms.

So what is wrong and how can I fix?

The rig of that figure has gotten screwed up, either some bones are missing or are not positioned correctly.  The simplest fix is just to save the materials out and reload the V3 figure from default, and reapply the materials and morphs (hopefully you have the morphs stored somewhere also).  I don't think it's worth your time to correct the rig.
edit: if this happens with ANY V3 that you load, then you may have trashed the rig of the original somehow - reinstall V3.

I'm not sure if this is relevant but I've had a similar 'distortion' problem with SP3 using Poser 7 - with the ankle rather than hand - and have reinstalled a number of times without success.

Just out of interest, what service pack version of P7 are you using?

Hi, thanks for your answer :-)))

No, it never happens with my "naked" V3, means only when I load some shoes, props oder clothing-items, then it happens sometimes.

I fixed my situation for the moment, because I saved my file. Reloaded the "naked" V3 without anything just my customized bodymorphs and applied the pose. Everything went fine. Then I repositioned her hands how I wanted and saved this pose.

I loded again the file wher**e the distortion accured and applied the new pose... and it worked !!!! NO  distortion.

So it is not V3,  it must be a clothing-item or a prop in the scene.

Any idea how to find out?

It may be an example of "crosstalk", where rigging information in the clothing item is affecting the rig of the figure that it conforms to.  In old versions of Poser, prior to Poser 5, this was a common problem that was also exploited for practical use.  I had understood that this was changed heavily in Poser 5 and later so that it was less likely to happen by accident, but you seem to have found some items that have crosstalk problems.  Best to contact the clothing vendor, that may actually be semi-intended behavior (or if not, the vendor probably ought to correct the problem).
edit - how to narrow down which one, well, conform one item and run a variety of poses, repeat until you hit the problem item.

Oops, another problem might be a pose file that is badly designed and does dumb stuff like translating bones instead of rotating them.

Hi **pjz99,

yeah thanks for your help and ideas ...:-))

I thought already too, that it might be a crosstalking problem...

I will look for it...

I found out, that the pose I apply to V3
(even to V3 SAE, in her plain version with no morphs at all)
changes small parts of a bra I applied to V3 SAE.

Again I saved the posefile with "SELECT SUB" and clicked everything off, except for her bodyparts. BUT still the distortion happens to parts of the bra....

I openend the "pz2" file with Editor but I did not find anything strange.

Anybody got an idea what I have to look for in a posefile?

If you see any part of a real pose file, that is only intended to pose the figure, that has any "translateX" "translateY" or "translateZ" blocks that are non-zero, except Hip or Body, then that I expect it can cause a problem like this.  Hip is OK to translate because it's the generally the origin of the figure and the root bone, and translating it will move the entire bone heirarchy normally.  Any part of a pose that contains "endPoint", "origin" or "orientation" will very likely screw up the rig like you're seeing.

I cecked the whole pose-file all translate x, y, z deleted some NON -ZEROSs at the feet. saved it and tried again the same effect.

As you can see in my new scrrenprint it is the same V3 +bra und I can change from one pose (by marforno) and my customized pose...

With my (now checked pose the distotion happens, and a monent later everthing the same, with mafornospose on the the sanme V3, same bra... the distortion is. Then again my pose > distortion and so on....

You need to contact the vendor of the pose, it seems pretty clear their product is causing your trouble here.

But I am the creator of that pose.

I  changed the different bodyparts until I got my costumized pose...

But thanks anyway for your time-investment...:-)))

I had a problem like that a couple years ago. I posted asking about, but none of the suggestions worked. So I scrapped that outfit and worked with something else.
