Subject: Help, my M3 keeps reverting to the broken version

flibbits ( ) posted Thu, 15 May 2008 at 11:14 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 10:43 PM

I keep having to replace the M3 object file , the SR2, but it keeps reverting to the old version with the left side that morphs incorrectly with morphs++.

Once I replace the OBJ with the new one, I can morph and work with a figure.  But then suddenly even a saved figure or scene will have the broken left side and I have to once again overwrite the OBJ files (geometries.)

Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

You need to go back to Daz and reset your downloads for both the M3 base, and the head and body morphs.  Then you need to install all 3 again.

To clarify, I have all the files.  The point is I have installed them all, over and over and over and over again.  It works for awhile, but then somehow reverts to the old, broken M3.

I know what you said :)  But you still need to go back and reset your M3 base, M3 head morphs, and M3 body morphs and reinstall them again :)

It appears your files are older and aren't working. Going and redownloading the files ensures you get the very latest ones.

And don't just overwrite the .obj file. Overwrite all of the files for the M3 base and both head and body morphs :)

But I've done this already.  Just did it a couple of weeks ago. Just did it again.   I still have the files.  I've reinstalled, and M3 is working.

But it will break again, why is that happening?

yes you are reinstalling but have you downloaded the new updated version that fixed those problems?

the best thing for you to do is delete the copies you have and then go download them from  DAZ again  and then reinstall them.

flibbits, when you first installed M3 did you include the uninstaller option? If yes did you first uninstall M3 before reinstalling with the newer files? If you didn't include the uninstall option then you will have to delete the obj and cr2 and maybe even the pose and morphs files. Just an idea that came to mind when reading this thread.

I gave up on M3 years ago due to this problem. About six months ago I switched to a new machine and took the opportunity  to install M3 from scratch, latest versions from the Daz3D site. And I've seen no improvement. I still get that problem with the morphs on his left side.

Nobody seems to give a toss about this; and with M4's release somewhere in the pipeline, I don't care anymore.

I am guessing there is multiple runtimes in the mix and it is pulling from the wrong one from time to time. And the morphs and base file need to be installed with fresh copies, preferably with the other copies deleted to make sure since a lot of people have more than one runtime.

I have D/L'd the new version, un-installed the old stuff, reinstalled the new multiple times.  It's still reverting, after some time, to the broken version.  I repeat the process, then it happens again, repeat, again, etc.

Wish I could be of more help but it sounds like you've tried everything.
