THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Has almost everyone deserted this forum?

dhama ( ) posted Tue, 20 May 2008 at 12:31 PM · edited Wed, 13 November 2024 at 11:28 PM

I've noticed that recently people have nothing to say, so how about taking the time to add something to this thread............

What are you working on at the moment?

For me, I am rendering a forest scene that is taking forever and I can't save it because I recieved the dreaded out of memory error LOL.  It must be all the Bryce trees i'm using, I hate rendering in small bits and then editing them all together. I think there is around 20 trees but also a lot of ground covering plants and grasses.

So what are you up to?

vangogh ( ) posted Tue, 20 May 2008 at 12:54 PM

It is sort of dead in here....I've been busy creating a kitchen scene....its a close-up of two ants doing battle over possession of a corn flake that is laying on a countertop. What you are working on sounds like your computer is about to declare it's independence from human control....I know that my computer grumbles and makes loud nasty noises whenever I try to get it to crunch too many numbers at one time. Me and my computer have a love/hate relationship....I love my computer and it hates me!!

dhama ( ) posted Tue, 20 May 2008 at 1:08 PM

LOL, 11 looks and only one reply so far..... some people like to peek but just can't be bothered to reply. I really don't understand why some people use forums.

What an excellent idea vangogh, sounds an interesting idea. As for my PC, well it's usually good to me.... I think it's Bryce that caused this headache LOL.

Would it surprise you to know it involves a female ? Oh and I'm working on 2 images (first time in about 6 weeks I've had the time), to be posted soon. Also I've been learning,  (heresy coming) Vue 6 I and Carara 6 Pro.  Both sort of vexing.

I just finish a rendering for the challenge and post it... **

Question**: Is the .brx file required for upload?

It won't upload the artwork without the original file. I just tried to upload a br6 file and it politely told me that it was either not the correct file type or it's over the weight limit. but it nevertheless uploaded the jpg files. So now I'll have to wait for it to be approved before it appears on the page. LOL

I don't know about everyone else..but spring is heading into summer here and there's more to do outside..plus my son finally split from his bitchy wife and he's been here a lot...then I just finished a render to be used as cover art...and my sister decided to put up a family geneology and news page and I've had to contribute to that...and I'm trying to keep up with the galleries and comments as much as I can....and...and....and...

chuckles thats what I get for just typing and being tired.

I ment to say, Me?  I am still just trying to learn and getting constantly interrupted till its too late at night.  Part of my problem is I can't focus on just one thing to focus on learning as I have Bryce, Carrara, Hexagon, DazStudio.  Add to that the painting (acrylics) and digital painting learning.

I guess I need to just find one project and focus on it first ;)

Now just to figure out which direction to head first :)

To answer your original question, No!

Up too? Working against poverty, plotting to overthrow the evil empire , scheming about how to make ten trillion a month without paying taxes and retaliating those who have done me evil.

Speaking about retaliation - Hey how about that Tony Bennett ? most annoying music I can play at 120db to get back at three constantly annoying sisters who seem to congregate in front of my front door every day when I get home. (KJewel 99.3 - in Fresno). Of course being annoying themselves they might like the crap. I dunno I tryed Hank J.R. who seems to like to sing in a half key above and a time and a half  faster than the original recordings to no effect, Willie and Waylon, Charlie Pride and Jan and Dean meet Batman. Nothing seems to work ... I'm stumped.

Meanwhile back in Bryceworld  - Mr. Snoink is STILL running about the orbit of Mars at warp 9.6 because I'm too lazy to render him out of it.  . . .

Even though it's not Bryce, I have two projects on the go. A naughty femdom image for renderotica premier and an archi-viz one of a modern bedroom for here. (currently building  a couple of bedside lamps and researching miscellania to populate the scene with).  I am currently estimating about 16 to 18 hours for the final render based on the tests so far.
In real life, I'm rather busy with the testing and certification work on a new version of one of our more major aircraft configurations.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

I am in the process of building a Colonial Defender in wings. Sort of a battlestar without flight pods. I have been at it since December 1.

6 hour sessions are about normal, and a lot longer are common.

I want to do something for the challenge but I am swamped with this thing.

Stoner ( ) posted Wed, 21 May 2008 at 1:22 AM

My current project is titled "Palace  building for dummies". It will soon come to a Renderosity-page near you.

Otherwise I´m halfway of moving to my cabin for the summer season. Where I´ll be studying my garden in real 3D. So therefore I´ll be here in very brief moments during the summer.

Just popping in to say "howdie!"  Been a bit slow on the art production, but have one in the pipe-line at the moment.  It's a re-creation of the Boucheron Imperial Tiara owned by the British Royals.  Workflow was Wings, 3DMax, and of course, Bryce.   Here's how it looks currently.  Still have more of the inserts pieces to do, and a LOT more diamonds to set into the channel work of the metal frame.  (I was also playing a bit with lighting setups, so the color is over-the-top! *grin*)

Nice work rosemary be interesting to see how long a render of diamonds takes, with all those refelctive and transparent surface.

Actually it helps me, I have to drive for an hour to get to work, and i'm always full of inspiration by the time I get back to Bryce.

Oh I'm so angry at how inconvenient public transport is and how unjoined up it is and the fact that there are ALWAYS roadworks so much so,that any creativity curdles and inspiration flees.Oh and I'd forgotten just how expensive it is due entirely to taxes and increased petrol/gas prices.

As if increasing taxation on petrol stops anyone using a car.Especially when it's aviation fuel that is causing far more pollution than all cars put together.

Mind if I had to walk....I'd never have any time.

Sorry for the rant. It's been a long day at the blackboard.

ThunderStone ( ) posted Wed, 21 May 2008 at 8:00 PM

Right at this very moment I'm rendering a very simple Roman coliseum which is 2 levels. Wanted to go to 4 levels but even tho I've got the RAMs and what's not, I am getting strangely enough those dreaded out of memory errors, when I attempt to save the whole shebang. Hence I luckily enough had save in increments up to the point when the first level was completed and then save that as a different file and merge the first file with the second file. Then I was able to save it again but not to use the merge file. Even tho I made use of those "C" tab, the number of polygons is above what I am normally used to. As soon as it finished rendering ( in about 4 hours or less) I'll do the postwork and then post it for you all to see.

That is what I've been doing throughout the day. And also going thru frogdot's gallery (not here but at phazedance). WOW!!! what creativity and humor!!! I could spend the whole week going thru that gallery.

Me, I just finished handing in all my work for university deadlines, and now I just have some work for the Animators-In-Residence, who this year are "Slinky Pics".

Other than that I've been playing in the DTE making rainy water and Jade and Amethyst variety textures - happy with some of them.
Little bit of greeble modeling in Wings, and amazingly enough I've even had some time to chill out this weekend.
