On method would be to export your bookmarks as an HTML page then use the linked extension. There is an extension that is closer to what your looking for ("Bookmarks LinkChecker"), but it seemed to be a little outdated, YMWV.
This is what I use...it is small and works good and free.

Export to HTML and use Xenu Link Sleuth.

We all have hundreds of bookmarks to our favourite artists, tutorials and galleries.
We visit some frequently, others rarely. But we all encounter the DEAD link. An artist has stopped his website, a tutorial has moved to another provider.
Anyone know of a utility out there that searches through all your bookmarks and reports the ones that are dead?
I'm using Firefox and after an extensive search, I've found nothing.
