Ok, I finally grabbed Poser 6, and I'm noticing that there are places where the UI is very slow to respond... but not the preview window, which blazes along!  This seems to be worse when I'm online, too.

Any tricks or tips to speeding this up?  All help appreciated!

poser ini change boxpicking to =1 ?

Gareee, I've looked in the Poser ini file but can't find boxpicking listed anywhere. Can you tell me where I can locate it within the file? My problem is a little different as P6 takes a long time to open.

I just searched "box" with the text file open.. could be it's not in the poser 6 ini at all. Typically this issue is caused by video driver issues. Last known best ati drivers are this month's new release, and I believe, Obtober 2007.

No idea when the last best nvidia drivers were released.

(EDIT: I did check, and the boxpicking option wasn't added till poser 7... sorry.)

(Or you might need to roll back a few as well.) Hard to tell since both ati and nvidia seem to run hot n cold with GOOD or "meh" drivers of late...

Ok! Not sure on older drivers as I just added this card a couple of months ago and have just now gotten the latest drivers for it. It's weired the P6 opening screen comes on and just sits their for about 20 to 40 seconds then it starts the initializing plugins process which takes another 15 to 30 seconds, but once done everything works fine.

Very strange I just did a complete reinstall after finding out that Poser 6 wasn't showing up in my start menu or my add/remove program list. After the reinstall everything works and start fine.

No wonder I couldn't find boxpicking (lol)!  I have new ATI drivers, I'll try those.  The odd thing is that the 3D view is lightning-fast, but when the cursor leaves the 3D view it changes very slowly to the standard pointer.. maybe it's just my machine/installation.. :-/

FWIW, I installed the latest ATI Catalyst drivers and things are MUCH better, no lag changing cursors, all selection etc. is quicker, so that fixed it, yaay!

Yeah EF told me that the may drivers fixed a LOT of OGL issues. Lightwave's issues also have vanished as well.
