Subject: pose file goes back to default hip translations

Is there away to apply pz2 poses without pulling the figure back at the default zero xyz translations?

I am trying to animate v4 far away from the default center position then whenever I click a general pose, it goes back to the center. Its beginning to drive me nuts.

You could lock the hip, but that would also stop rotations being applied to the hip.

You could Copy the hip before applying the pose, paste the result into Notepad, edit out all but the three tran lines (or just  x and z, leaving y).  Apply your pose, then Copy & Paste from Notepad back into the hip, to restore the old translations.

Another idea is to edit the pz2 files to delete the three translate channels. You might want to leave the ytran channel in there, as changing the pose of the legs usually means that ytran of the hip needs to change.

I guess none of these is 100% satisfactory, but they are all I can think of.

When you position a figure, it is best to set the x and z location by translating the Body, not the hip, leave the hip at zero. Then if the pose files you apply are constructed properly the x and z hip translations will be zero so the location of the figure will not change. Unfortunately not all pose files are construct correctly, and many do contain x and z translations for the hip.
