Subject: architectural models use of flat 2D planes?

When creating architectural models and streetscapes is there any problem with leaving surfaces as 2D planes or is it a good idea to give everything some thickness?

You can use single planes.

If you arent going to see the back or edges just use a plane .  You can extend out the edges of window openings and such to give an apparent thickness .
