Could anyone direct me to any guides for modeling mertails in Blender? I am trying to make a mertail for a package, but other than forming the general shape with PhilC's shrink wrap feature of Poser Tool Box I don't know what else to do.

You are not likely to find anything that specific. You might be able to combine some Blender modeling knowledge from the many good Blender tutorials out there with the edge layout from something like this (for 3ds max)
