Subject: Epson printers

My Epson 2200 printer has died...  It prints a few pages and then has a seizure and starts slamming the head against the side and spitting ink all over the page...  Anyway, I am looking at printers and have it down to two choices.

Does anyone have an Epson Photo 1400?  It’s a slight step down from the 2200 as far a paper types that it takes, but the price is very attractive at $269.  The Photo R1900 is a step up but costs $499.  Still cheaper then when I first bought the 2200 about 5 years ago at $699!

Thanks!
Peggy

I use the Epson R1800 (13x19 Paper size) and have liked the results very much. Especially for my wide format renders! Ink is not cheap, and it takes 8 cartridges @ $16.00 per. Ink is available at my local Office Depot. Have had no luck with off-brand inks, so save yourself some trouble and buy the real ink. Does get expensive. For best results, I use the Enhanced Matte Paper (the 5 star stuff) buy that from epson.com as it is cheaper and many stores don't carry it.  Wife uses the printer for her scrap book hobby, and she is very pleased with the results.

I always use Epson ink and paper - it does make a huge difference.  I love the Epson watercolor paper, but it's one that is not supported by the Epson 1400.
