Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
If the figure has a scaled neck (for example), then the correct thing to do is to scale the neck of the conforming hair by the same amount. This ensures that the joint centres coincide - translating the hair will work for a fixed pose, but it may not fit if the figure is moved.
The hair you've seen probably does have translate dials in it, but they will be hidden since they're not usually useful for the reasons given above. It's possible to "unhide" any dial either by editing the CR2, or by applying a special pose file.
I agree that this process could be made easier. A hr2 is very easy to translate & more intuitive but with a figure hair the process can be more difficult if you can only use scaling & available morphs. You may have to select the 'head' of the hair to give you some options as the 'body' won't translate.
As a side note, if I have changed V4's head size to say 0.05, I find I can select the 'head' of the hair figure & scale to 105%. The scale dials may be hidden so I unhide them with the script from Dimension3D. Again, this could have been made simpler but I use this method to get the hair figure to fit a resized V4 head.

Thanks for this advice. I tried applying a 'reveal secret dials' to the hair and was then able to adjust the scaling by changing the y scale as you say but why does it have to be so complicated. I must point out that in a number of first rate hair pieces that I have the XYZ transformation dials are all there. Its with a number of other major merchants where they are missing and I find this aggravating but thank you for the advice.
pxp @ stormchaser Yes I agree with you these things should be made far easier to use.

Some of you may know that I have been pioneering for merchants to use more of the morphs++ and V4 muscular morphs in their clothing products for some time now and at last this is starting to happen with products such as the latest offering from Jasmina.
I am now making a similar request and I think many buyers would agree with me, which it has to with conforming hair for V4. I will also say in anticipation, that I am ready to be corrected if what I say here is not right and I am shown to be ignorant of something.
There are some amazing hair products in the Rosity store and elsewhere. The one's that I am referring to are the ones that are conforming hair pieces and are designed to allow the software to fit the hair automatically to V4 when selected.
There seems to be a misunderstanding on the part of the designer/s that a V4 figure will always be set to use the standard head neck and shoulder defaults but this is not always the case since many users may have made a small or significant change to V4's neck length for example, because it suits their creation and with art, as it is said, anything goes - well, within certain boundaries.
When this happens conforming the hair to the figure will not fit correctly and the top and sides of the head may poke through.
So what to do? And here comes the problem with many of these conforming hair pieces.
In order to correct the error you need to be able to move the hair up or down, side to side, back or forward but guess what? There are no XYZ Transformation controls they're completely missing, why?
The XYZ twist, side by side and bend dials are not going to help very much when you can't reposition the hair and you probably will not want to change the scaling either.
So my request is to ask ALL hair designers to please include XYZ transformation controls to all their hair pieces and add them in as a matter of good software practice which will allow your buyers to be happy.
Do XYZ transformation dials overload file size, or is it hard to add them to a product? I'd like to know.
Thank You.
