I'm loading the basic cherry tree model and also other tree models into a scene but get weird texture stretching at the base.  I've tried changing the mapping modes but it still doesn't work.  Is there another method of doing this.

You are not alone here.  We all have those problems with some of Vue trees.
Here is a link to a site that offers fixes for all the basic Vue trees.
Click on the downloads section and select the Vue tree wood mats.

Hope this helps you

Nope, this is a big problem. Normally, changing mapping mode to world parametric fixes it, but not for all trees.

Also, if you are in the need for some much better looking trees and have only a few bucks to part with may I direct you to this site:

Well, not to disagree with G&C nor my man bruno, but it is irrelevant what you do to the trees in Vue..it is simple as this...like the rocks THEY FUCKING SUCK !!! You can give them custom textures and you can lick them nicely and stroke them like the pretty birds they are...but they will never belong to you. NO, not ever(; There always Vues babies...CASE in point(; This is a simple tree i made with a million billion polys (not of course not really) cause some people say (idiots) that you gotta give them alot of polys(; No not true..anyway...

Actually, the most annoying thing about trees in Vue for me is the leaves.  They look exactly like what they are most of the time - and alpha plane.  I need to figure some way of getting random bends and such in the leaves if that's possible
