Subject: Scratch discs full when cropping?

aangus ( ) posted Fri, 11 July 2008 at 7:49 AM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 9:44 PM

Hi there,
I'm using Adobe Photoshop cs (version 8.0) and I've suddenly came up against this problem, I wonder if anyone is aware of a fix, or what I need to do to overcome it?
When I use the crop tool, I get a message saying its unable to complete my request because the scratch discs are full.
I can highlight the area I want to crop on the photo, but when I press return the message comes up and I can get no further.
Any ideas anyone?
Many thanks
Anthony

I cannot respond to your question except that I have found that Google has been an excellent source for other problems and fixes relating to Photoshop. Might be worth a try. I recall (in the recesses of my mind) that scratch disk sizes can be adjusted but then my mind quits on me. Good luck!

It's as the message states your scratch discs are full. If you have a second drive it's best to assign the scratch disc to that one. Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins & Scratch Disc. Another thing you can do if you are stuck is to Edit > Purge > All. That will clear up some space to do the crop.
