Subject: Image size on product pages

IsaoShi ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2008 at 10:50 AM · edited Thu, 31 October 2024 at 6:40 PM

This may have been asked before, but I am quite new. When browsing through products in the RMP, often the first image on the page seems to stutter and stop while the other images are loading. It's a real irritation to have to wait 40 seconds for ten or more 500kB images to load up before I can see the main picture.

Can anything be done to ensure that the main product image is fully loaded before the rest?

Thank you.

Some images are not hosted on Renderosity servers, but on the vendors own servers. This could account for the slow load times on some products depending on several factors, such as image size etc.

Thank you for your answer.
Even if the images were hosted on Rendo's fast servers, ten images at 500kB each would still take 40 seconds to download on my 2Mb/s broadband connection (it's the fastest we can get out here in the UK countryside). There really is no need for them to be that size.

However, I'll assume your answer contains an implied "no", and just put up with it.
