Subject: 3D Painting in C6.5

Mark
I am having problems with the workings of the 3D Paint tools in the Beta.

Some steps/methods/proceedures seem to be missing from the Artists Guide manual (Or I am dense?) and I just can not get a proper work flow for the various tools to get  effective results.

Any help appreciated.

What types of things are you having issues with?

Well, the first time I went through the Manual I painted layers on a sphere.

Now I can not do that. Now I can not use any of the individual painting tools to get them to work on an .obj.

I know that sounds crazy but after umpteen  efforts I have given up.

Simply, nothing I do or try will let me use the "paint" tools---the only thing  working just applies a single colour/image file to the total object?

So. it's a complete, start from scratch "how to" (how not to?) need. CRAZY!

And, now, I seem to have it working ok again?
And I can not see what I was doing wrong before?
Crazy!

Bwtr, question did you close down Carrara and load it up again--sometimes functions simply stop working.  When I restart the program again it starts working.  I had the same thoughts you did -okay what did I do, its working now?  Jan

Yes, something is wrong with the 3D Painting. Went bad on me again. IF my temper quietens down I will go through proceedures writing down every single move to find out what the hell is going on.

When things stop have you changed to the texture tab and made sure the right layer is selected? Other than that sounds like it might be related to proper uv's.

No need to think outside the box....

About one in ten efforts, on the same object, in a fresh new screen, using, it seems, the exact same workflow seems to work. See attachment.

None of those effective efforts had anything to do with UVs--I gathered, that like Modo, one did not really  have a need for UVs?

Looks like it requires a fast uv or projector, so sounds like it does need uv's.

Think I will stick with 3D Coat--much less problems!
