Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 4:13 pm)
Sorry, I don't know of any substitute for IK, per se.
Perhaps the following may help you sort things out ....
When IK is ON, the hands (and feet) are parented to the body.
When IK is removed, they are parented to the forearms (and shins, respectively).聽 This usually causes problems when the pose for the forearms and shins has changed because the hands and feet may "snap" into a different position.
It is usually best to keep IK turned ON (or OFF) for a complete animation.
So, you might try doing it this way ...
To do what you are trying to accomplish, try making 2 separate animations.
1st animation (A1) - IK is ON
2nd animation (A2) - IK is OFF
Go to the last frame of A1 and save (copy/memorize) the pose.
Go to the 1st frame of A2 and apply the pose.
Now, join A1 and A2 in a video editor.聽 This probably cannot be done in Poser because of the IK problem.

You can sort of do this within one PZ3, by remembering where you
want to turn the IK on and off.聽 Since there's no nice way to make notes,
you could use a dummy prop as a sort of marker.... put the box up
in the frames where the IK needs to be on, down where it's off.聽 Name
the box "IK marker" to aid memory and to help in scripting.
Then you'd have to force the change manually during the make-movie process.聽
Run one set of frames, turn on, run other set of frames.
This would be easy with a script.
All in all, the split-PZ3 method is better, but this method has a slight
advantage in file organization and scriptable-ness.

Substitute of IK can be conforming figure to another figure with left and right foot only but it does not resolve your problem.
Quote - But I don't want to animate in IK because it is hard sometimes and when you remove it in a middle of an animation, things get wrong.
It happend when you swich off IK in the middle of key frames. If you add聽two keyframes on whole body or whole leg (buttock, thigh and shin)聽- first keyframe聽one聽frame before off IK and second on frame where IK is聽off -聽things get right

What I did is this:I created an IKOff scene, posed David and then Save as and renamed it as IKOn scene.
In IKOn scene I activated the IK of both limbs and moved the hip. When I was satisfied, I turned off IKs on both limbs and saved the pose.
I opened the IKOff scene and applied the saved pose after 15 frames and it did the deed. Yay!
The only problem now is everything is key framed in the next pose. I think there is a script out there that removes all unused keyframe? Anyone knows?

angry, give it some love!
Use the graph ... click and drag around the frames you want to "de-key" and press "delete" ...
Key frames all gone.
Or you can ...
Use the Animation Palette and click and drag around the key frames you want to delete and then .... yup, you guessed it ........... press "delete."

But I don't want to animate in IK because it is hard sometimes and when you remove it in a middle of an animation, things get wrong. Is there any existing substitute to IK that does all the things above without the flaws I mentioned?
Thanks.
