Just to add a bit of background to this, I have some full body skin textures that show up all white in preview when using hardware shading.
I suppose it depends on how complex the shaders are, and whether your particular graphics card has the capability of handling the level of complexity present in each shader. That's a lot of variables...
I don't really know, I'm just thinking aloud here. :O)

I too have problems when Hardware Shading is enabled. Sometimes the character
is very dark, like some of the lights aren't turned on. And what is even odder is that
it just affects certain cameras. For example the main camera, dark scene. The face
camera, normal. The right camera dark. The left camera normal. etc. And it isn't
consistent either. With different files, different cameras are affected. Some files,
all cameras work normally. Some files all the cameras are messed up.
But when I render the image, it always comes out correctly, no matter which
camera is used. Only happens in preview mode.

The other day I bought some texture & character sets for V4.2 from Rosity and DAZ to use in Poser 7. All are great texture sets and I have no complaints or regrets about them they are made by some very well known top selling merchants. So when I installed the packages into my runtime, and there are no file location problems of any kind, I was surprised to see that in the Poser 7 Preview window the lips were completely invisible and white yet they were visible and perfect when rendered. Obviously difficult to create expressions etc in preview mode.
So, I got in touch with the vendors and the merchants to ask for their advice and helpful as they all tried to be no one could offer help or a solution at that time. So I decided to look into this further and see if I had missed something. Finally I discovered what the solution seemed to be. I needed to turn off "Enable Hardware Shading" in the render preview panel and then the lips became visible in the Preview window - great. But here is the question why is this not happening with other V4 texture sets that I use and "Enable Hardware Shading" is on? Whats going on here?
If anyone has an answer to this I would be pleased to know then I can feed it back to the parties concerned.
