I have recently had the problem that poser crashes when I try load a project. The software opens with a blank project, but when I try to load a PZ3 file to do editing, I get the usual crash message. Has anyone got any ideas on what the problem my be.

 Hello deejay_21,

Can you give us more details?

Is this Poser 7 on Vista for example?  I know a few people are having problems with permissions and Vista.

One thing you should make sure is that you have the latest operating system updates and video card updates.

Also if you could tell us which model you are saving, and are you getting the "find texture" error message when you first open, or is it just crashing right away.

Are you using IBL AO?

I'm sure with more details someone in the group should be able to provide you with different things to try.

Shawn

Thanks for the response.
This is Poser 7 on XP Pro, with all the latest updates for XP and my graphics card.
The model I am trying to load is V4 plus clothes etc. The crash occurs when trying to load the model not Poser itself, the error message is "Poser executable file has encountered a problem and needs to close". I was going to reinstall poser, but thought I would check out the forum first.
As to IBL AO I do not know what this is so can't say.

Any help would be great.

Do you have use external binary morph targets in your preferences under misc checked? V4 does not work with it and poser crashes when opening a pz3 that was saved with V4 and external morph targets enabled.
If it was enabled when you saved the pz3, the pz3 is permanently damaged as far as I know

Fortunately it's only the morphs that are lost, you can recover the rest of the scene (see linked thread).

Thanks everyone for all your help . I have managed to recover the scenes, minus the morphs. I have turned off the save binaries (pmd files are not longer created).

Great job, have a great weekend.
