Subject: clothing creation question

i've tried to get around asking this, but i can't find an answer anywhere.  how do you create an edge or a hem? is there some trick or technique that addresses many edges at once?   if i wanted to just give a plane (a scarf) an edge or hem, how could i go about it?

Hmmm had much the same issue and resolved it this way:

thanks so much!  yeah, it seems like something that should have some sort of script.  like take an object and give its open edges an edge x width parallel to the surface and y width perp to the surface.  well, i hope the bevel script works!
