Subject: I'm back and I'm confused (Poser and V 4.2)

pzrite ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2008 at 11:33 AM · edited Sun, 28 July 2024 at 4:31 AM

Well I've finally given up on Daz Studio (until if and when they get their act together)
So I'm back using Poser - I've been a Poser user since version 1, I currently have version 7 but as I said I haven't used it in almost a year.

Now on to my problem.... I uploaded and installed the latest Victoria model, 4.2, and I tried to add the base morphs and the muscle morphs.  When I add the base morphs, nothing happens. The dials that are there don't work (the only full body morph that works is the "male" morph)

And then when I add the muscle morphs, I get a message that it is looking for FBM files, but all I have are PBM files?   For example, it wants to find InjDeltas.FBMxxxxxx.pz2   but I have those files except with a PBM in the name.

My normal Victoria 4 model works fine (the naked model), but when I try to run the 4.2 model (the one with the purple bikini) I have all those problems.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Lee

Is she installed into your main Poser runtime? She won't work if not. Did you run the update script after installation? V4 is tricky :-)

Yep, I installed the files both in my Poser 6 and 7 runtimes, I ran the update script from the desktop icon "Update Victoria 4.2 Base", that seemed to run okay.

But when I go to either of my runtimes, I select Victoria 4.2 from the figures, after it loads I select "body" from the parts menu.  And as I said the only morph that seems to work is the "male" morph. All the other FBM dials do nothing.  (Even after I load the base morphs from the Pose section)

When I try to inject the muscle morphs it says it's looking for files in my Poser/runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Victoria4/Deltas directory.  It's looking for those FBM files, but all I have there is the PBM files.

Edit: I might add that I'm running Poser 7 SR3 on Window Vista.
(I had a lot of problems with Vista searching for files with D|S, so that's why I mention that)

Are you injecting the morphs? The new V4 works like the old V3, (kind of, it doesn't inject them automatically when you use a character morph, for example) and you have to go into the pose folder and inject her before any of her morphs work. The male morph works for you because it was included in the base figure. But all the other goodies (like her boobs LOL) need to be injected. I just saved a copy of fully loaded Vickie and use that, much easier :-)

PS. Duh. You said were injecting.  I haven't had my coffee yet LOL. I am leaving it there anyway, just in case someone else is confused. Ok...are you sure you installed the poser and not the DS files? I don't use DS, but that might be the issue. Have you redowloded all her files in case you got a bad one the first time around? Have you restarted your PC (which works for me when poser gets all snotty).

Okay, I figured it out.
I had to re-install the ++Morphs for V4.2
I thought they were already installed, but I guess not.

Anyway, all is working now.  Thanks for your help Sarah, I appreciate it.

There is a big trick that a lot of people miss when you use conforming clothing with V4:

Pjz99 thanks for that heads up. That fixed a problem I was having with V4. She is indeed tricky to work with.
