After breaking my head why two similar characters one worked properly and the other don't, I discovered that cr2 files are sensitive to the order in the channel chunk.
If you write the joint channels before the morph channels the character doesn't work properly.
The morph channels (targetGeom) must be be the first thing in the channels chunk of an actor!!!
In most of the cases it is, but I found many characters where the morphs are the last thing in the channel or a part of morphs are at the begining and other morphs at the end and this can cause problems to the movements don't behave as should have.

Stupidity also evolves!

It depends on the order in which you want things to happen. Morph channels usually come before the joints, and it often doesn't matter; but sometimes a different sequence is necessary - see the V4 armpit fix thread at DAZ for an example. The implication there is that Poser 7 puts the morphs "out of sequence" by default.

But yes, two figures which differed only in their channel orders would behave differently.
