I have just moved onto a Vista sytem and when I open Poser it tells me it can not find or open the libraries... any ideas for how I should try to fix this?

Sounds like User Permissions. I turned off UAC because I am the only one using the machine and solved most of those issues. Basically, Vista is saying that you as the user or the Program you are using does not have permission to access the Libraries.

The other issue could be corrupt Preferences. Resetting Preferences should resolve that.

HI, try running as 'administrator' just once.

Thanks for the info. It actually ran well, then I ran it as administrator and then I turned off UAC and THEN it gave me this error. I think I will re-install. I just don't get why I still get this with UAC turned off? Are there any general rules about Poser vis Vista?

I too just moved to a Vista 64 machine and before I installed any of my programs such as poser and Vue I disabled the UAC before installing them. As a matter of fact you want to disable the UAC before installing any new programs to Vista this also holds true for any external runtimes you move to Vista.

Here's what I did:
Since my istall of Vista was a fresh install I went to this website for tweaking Vista this of course is your choice but there are some great tips here:
Tweaking Vista
I installed poser this way in Vista:

  1. Disable the UAC first thing
  2. Run the installation of poser as the administrator
  3. After install open poser as the administrator once and you should be good to go.
