Hello, I have two problems when using my Poser 7.

1st: This past couple of month, sometimes when I am rendering a figure, it will render the first time perfectly. The next time, I will start get these pop ups telling me that there isnt enough memory to load the textures, yada yada yada. Then certain things will turn all white. Whether it be the skin, the clothes or whatever. Even after I have cleared my cache and used CCleaner or another temporary file cleaner and rebooting my PC. It it does this randomly. Even using a different figure or different skin texture or different clothes.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I have had this for over a year and this problem began a couple of months ago.

Next problem. I purchased the gorgeous Elsa Wylde asnd when I load the top, it appears all blue and deformed. No textures and it wont load the texture for it either. I downladed Elsa Wylde again and loaded them into my runtime again and still the same problem. The other E.W. stuff loads and takes the textures fine. Help! LOL. I am attempting to load an image of the top as I rendered it.

Thanks

Paula

I think the first problem is a memory issue.   Poser isn't very clever at handling memory, especially at discarding memory which it no longer needs, so it can acquire loads of memory during a render and then try to acquire even more, when you attempt to switch back to Preview, rather than making full use of the memory it already has.   Sometimes, the full set of textures will eventually load, but I think it is safest to shut down Poser and start again.   For that reason (and quite a few others), it's always safest to save the file before doing any kind of render, in my opinion.

As for the EW problem, the blue top certainly doesn't look remotely like the Rhiannon version.    Is it possible that your runtime contains a mixture of two Elsas:  Elsa Wylde and, perhaps, some freebie called Elsa?   I can't see how the EW top could ever end up looking like the blue image, otherwise.   The EW top does load OK for me (V4.2, PoserPro, same version of Windows).

Yeah, I typically save before I render. I have a third problem lately with that. When I try to open what I saved, my poser shuts down. Never had this before. I even uninstalled poser, then reinstalled it. The problems still persist. Sigh...

I looked and I only have one Elsa and that is Elsa Wylde. I did have this exact same issue once before (never fixed it) on an outfit for Laura that did the same thing on the top.LOL

Saving before the render won't stop the problem, but it does minimise the potential damage.

I have no idea why problem #2 is happening, because the top that renders doesn't even share the geometry of the EW top.

The problem with opening previously saved files may be due to using external binary morph targets.   Go into **Edit ==>  General Preferences ==> Misc ** and check the setting of "Use external binary morph targets".   If it's switched on, you should switch it off.   (I don't think you can rescue files previously saved with this option switched on.)

Okay yes that box was checked. I unchecked it. As for the rest, I just don't know

With the computer issues, how full is your hard drive?

GrandmaPaula ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2008 at 11:00 PM

Actually, my hard drive is quite big and not even half full. I keep all my runtimes and Poser stuff on an external HD. But my Poser program and the things that must be installed in the main Poser runtime, are on my C drive in my computer. I forget how to find exactly how much space I have left on my HD.LOL

I had that.

Thanks to this thread and turning off the "use external binary morph targets" setting, I can now work on the same piece more than once.

Thanks people!

A reinstall fixes all - Ancient proverb.

LOL, cool. I am glad it helped you out. Hee hee

One thing you might try is to change the preview view to use cartoon shading, save your scene, and then re-open it.

But the other problems still persist
