Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

SaintFox ( ) posted Mon, 08 February 2010 at 1:47 AM

I am rendering some new thumbnails for the material poses at the moment and I this made me wonder if some or all morphs that we have so far will be included in the final version.

I use the smooth-lips morph by LaurieA a lot and of course the Lid synchronisation by LesBentley and many other things we've got so far to create something unique from Antonia.

So: Are there any plans for these customisations and do people prefer them pre-installed into Antonia or as additional morphs/options/add-ons that can be loaded when people want to use them?

By the way: am I doing something wrong or does Antonia 121 not work with the Eye-Lid synchronisation any more?

I've decided that it's too much effort for me to keep all the existing add-ons up to date between versions, so I'm leaving that up to the creators for now. But I'll soon finish with the fine-tuning of the joint parameters and JCMs for the body (with the possible exception of hands and feet) and will then concentrate on the face. So I'll look through the existing morphs and ERC setups and take what I find useful (supposed I have permission) or let those things inspire me if for some reason I can't use them directly.

I'm not sure how much should be included directly in the CR2. I think the JCMs and expression morphs are universally useful, and if done well, it's not all that likely that we'll have many different versions. So those will be included. But I think most shaping morphs should probably be loaded separately. And if they are, I'd like to keep them in separate packages as well, because that would make it easier to publish updates.

That would be best. Basic expressions are so useful, that even DAZ included them with M4 and V4! They didn't with V3 and M3 originally! LOLOLOL:laugh: Ahhh, the old days when EVERYTHING was separate! Not like the old,old days when they WEREN'T

I just found that the eylid-synchronisation works now... starting Poser new sometimes does wonders.

...and of course I have a new question now: What you see on the images is what I get  when rendering Antonia "out of the box". The intersection with the outer eyecorner gets worse when using the EyesLeftRight option... Something seems to be wrong with the eyes' position and/or size. I am using the most recent version of Antonia, the one from your signature, odf.

I am rendering two more tests to show you what I mean. please be patient.

Yep, download that again. It's revision 3. If you want to absolutely sure, you can append "?revision=3" to the URL. But that shouldn't be necessary.

Make sure to clean up any other versions you might have, so Poser only sees the correct one.

Strange enough as I created a new scene (of course) and as it is able to reload textures. Anyway: Now I can render nice eyes... and I am a sorry that I stole your time.

About the morphs and things: I still have them all - and I understand that you don't want to add each and everything and keep it up to date. But hopefully everyone who created nice add-ons will bundle them up for the public later.

I've left a note in the developer forum as well (under Releases and addons or "Pressemitteilungen und Addons" - that's what google translates it to). If you find something that does not look or work as it should please let me know!

Oh and... I couldn't resist and created two "promotional images" for our start page and Antonia's page...

The set is made for Antonia 0.9.121 (and upcoming releases - hopefully). You can pick up the most recent verion by following the link in odf's signature.

Very much agreed!

I tried hard to make her scale well, and for the most part, I think it worked out. I still need to do the hands, if I remember right. The bits where the axis order changes, such as the collar to shoulder and the shin to feet transitions, are tricky, and I had to give up on those. If anyone has any insights to share, I'll be grateful.

A scaling pose is included in the package. I'll make more when I find time.

One thing that can be done with .cr2's and scaling is propagating scale. You can use this with hands whereby, if you scale the hand, the fingers scale with it, apparently! I haven't tried it!

Ooh, thank you!  :D  And no rush, of course.  This could be really helpful!

And thank you, SaintFox!  I'm eager to try the new texturing!  :woot:

When will the expression morphs, etc., from the developers' site be available to the rest of us?

Ooh.  Scaling.  I've been scaling the head and neck on the characters I've been developing, and I find that some joint distortion results, mainly where the head joins the neck.  So far it looks like a fairly simple morph which pulls the scaled neck vertices up slightly can remove most of the distortion.  I couldn't get rid of it with any combination of joint tweaks, sadly.

Hi,
As a long time lurker I'd just like to say how much I admire all the work you folk do and what a wonderful figure Antonia is. I am however having a problem with with saintfox's new texture. I use poser 7 with pboost. I can't get the new textures to load up from the liabary and when I try to apply them manualy in the materials room they don't map properly. Has anyone else encountered this ? and can anyone suggest how to resolve this?

I think Digital-Lion got you wrong... you  don't talk about installing (unzipping) the textures to your runtime but about applying them to Antonia, right?

While I type I'm unzipping Antonia and her textures tomy Poser 7 (to avoid any errors by using her from an external runtime) and see what I get when using her. Please be patient for another hour or so!

Make sure that you are using Antonia 0.9.121 (figure name Antonia-121). Earlier versions won't work with that texture. The "oldUVs" versions of the figure won't work, either.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

SaintFox ( ) posted Wed, 10 February 2010 at 5:43 PM

That was much quicker than I thought!
I am able to apply all the textures as expected. Did you try to apply the textures directly from the Poser library? I am not common with pboost (although I know and own some programes by  Hogwarden) and I am not sure if it supports the material systemI've used (because I am not sure what the program supports at all).

So my recommendation would be:
Try to apply the materials directly from the Poser library (try both, please, the Classic version and the VSS version). If this works start a new scene and try the same with pboost. If this doesn't work you may want to contact Howard/Hogwarden and ask for some advice on what to do.

...and before I forget about it: you, odf, asked if we would prefer to have the Antonia installer unzipping directly into the Poser Runtime or if we like the new way with it's seperate folder better.
After being puzzled and seeking for Antonia in Poser Pro, 8 and now 7 until I remembered that she sleeps in her own little home and has to be moved my wish would be to create her zip again as if she's a common marketplace product so that she unzips directly into the runtime.

About re-fitting the bodysuit to Antonia: I think that as soon that we have a final version PhilC will add Wardrobe Wizard support for her. That should do the trick with the bodysuit and almost everything else we want her to wear.

The joint parameters on the ankles and the neck have changed, which should be easy enough to transfer onto the suit. There's are also some new JCMs on the collars and the wrists. I think that's pretty much it. The CHANGELOG should tell the complete the story, or else you're entitled to be somewhat annoyed with me.

Since Drakelot has already fitted the suit nicely to Antonia 118 (including the JCMs), I think he's the most qualified to do the update for 121. Just give him time. 😉 On the other hand, I'll add some more JCMs in the next version, so he might prefer to wait for that.

Thanks! I did allow some deformation there since there's not much space to get a smooth bend otherwise, and in reality the soft tissue would in fact bunch up and stretch with the head movements. But obviously it shouldn't appear as if she had a rubber bone in her chin, so I'll go and check that again.
