Subject: Question about Poser -> Vue (with Morph Manager involved)

pzrite ( ) posted Wed, 12 November 2008 at 12:35 PM · edited Sun, 28 July 2024 at 9:05 PM

I'm using Poser 7 Pro to Vue 7 Infinite.  The importing of pz3 files work great, with the exception of one problem I'm having:

I'm using a dress that was designed for V3 on V4.  I used Cross Dresser to convert the dress to the V4 model.  And I've also used Morph Magic to add some morphs to the dress (from the V4 figure).

Everything I've read about exporting models out of Poser say that you need to TURN OFF the option to Use External Binary Morph Targets.  Which I have done.  However when I try to reopen the file, either in Poser or Vue, the morph targets created in Morph Magic are GONE.  The dials are still there, but they don't work.

So what's going on here?  Is there another program that will work better?  Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any suggestions!

I don't know if this is relevant, but there is a problem associated with changing morph names in MM. It changes the internal channel name, not the dial name, which can break associations such as those with external morphs - I suspect it may break ERC linkages too, but not sure.

Anyway, have a look in your CR2 and see if there is a naming discrepancy - and whether there are any deltas in there, I suppose.

Thanks EB, I don't think that was my problem though.
I finally got it working after trying several different things.  And as usual, I'm not sure exactly what the problem was or how I fixed it.

I first changed from using Morph Magic to Clothing Morph.  Then I reloaded all the files I was using for this scene into the same Runtime directory (Poser 7). And I saved the scene in Poser 7 as opposed to Poser Pro.  And finally, I turned the 'External Binary Morph' option back OFF.
I reopened the scene in Poser 7, and was glad the Morph Targets were still there.

I opened the scene in Vue.  And it was there...correctly!

But then I added a mountain with auto-populated trees and Vue crashed again.

Oh well, at least I can get the Poser files in.   Making progress....
