Hi All :-) I just reinstalled Carrara 3D Basics on my new pc,  (all I really want it for is rendering) but it won't even start. The second I tell it to start I get "Carrara 3d Basics has stopped working" I don't even get to a splash screen. I have Vista, over a terabyte and a quad core, so I have no idea what the problem is. Can anyone help?

I am not sure, but I thought I heard that 3D Basics isn't compatible with Vista.  I think that's why the new 3D Express was made.  But like I said, I am not sure.  I run C6 Pro, and I haven't used 3D basics.  Try this.  Right click on it's desktop icon, then choose properties.  Now go to the compatibility tab, and try selecting Windows XP or Windows 2000 Compatibility mode.  Let me know if this works for you.

No Problem.  You really should consider The regular Carrara 6.  It has a lot more features, and it is a lot more stable from what I have heard.

Keep an eye on fast grabs at DAZ. I've seen the "Economic Stimulus Bundle" pop up for $99. It's happened twice that I've noticed! They only sell a few of them at a time and they sell fast. The bundle includes: Carrara 6 Pro, Hexagon 2.5, Bryce 6, Mimic Pro, Mimic Lite, Mimic Pro for Lightwave. There's no guarantee they will do it again but it's worth keeping an eye out for.

Also, with C7 coming out, C6 will probably be put on sale at the same time.

I installed it just fine, I just put it in a different folder than the Carrara I had before, no problems :-)

You can run all versions of Carrara side by side with no problems even in the same folders, ala. C:Program FilesDazCarrara,  from there it creates it's own folder Carrara 6 or 7 or 3D Basics or Express.
