Twice this week I have gone straight to Renderosity(as usual), and in the middle of everything a 'Monster' something or other has entered my Temporary Internet Files, and my computer has given me a warning about it.  It is an evil ad/popup thingamajig. 

Been here a while, and this is a first for me.  Any idea where the heck this little booger is coming from?

it has nothing to do with Renderosity.. but all with the things on your HD.
You have gotten a virus/spyware/adware / nastybugger...
And you need to remove it with a program that does just that...

and were it comes from ..well you and only you knows what places you visits and what you download or click on the net... so "we " can never know...

its better to fix this before you infect other people "unknowing" by emailing them orso..

erm guys, you forget the outside ads in the banner bar (are they still here? I've adblocked most of the banner areas on this site...) . we've had stuff try and come in via them before.

Yup, if I dont block banner ads my virus guard goes "ka-ching" now and then.

the outside banner ad links are checked trough and trough.. and when some has a nasty thing it gets spot in a jiffy and removed...
So thats not a clear danger to get spybots..

Be sure a company like renderosity cant be assosiated with bad companys with nastys on their sites...

BUT !! before downloading anti spyware ..that you are actualy downloading one.. the S holes who make spyware have fake tools online that infect you even more while "removing" other ...

Yeah, I've never been bothered before until a couple days ago & then this morning.  Maybe they have a new ad that's doing it.  The thing is in the temporary internet files, so all I have to do is empty them.  It doesn't even say a word about my other regular sites.  It only popped up here at Rosity.  I don't do strange websites.  I've been online a long, long time and learned my lesson years ago.  Oh well.  I guess I'll just empty out my tif files every night.  That should help the freeze/warning screen.  I went and got Noadware.  I think I'll also get that other one-Spybot.

erm here's some coffee. things have popped up on the outside banners before they can have them blocked.

you may want to check up on how the outside banner system works... before we had a load of tribal fusion ad's causing problems until rendo requested them being blocked from the site..... see how it works?

As no one else has reported this and it has happened to CarolSassy a number of times it would leasd me to believe it's on her HDD Khai.. ...

I use Adaware and Spybot S&D.

Also, try running CCleaner, removes alot of junk left on your system registry, and in temp internet files.

It has only happened two time, and both times it was when I went to a Renderosity location.

Yes, and the only thing found was in the temporary internet files.  As I said before, when I don't go to Rosity I don't get stopped.  Strange.  Oh well, I emptied them and the temp files.  Let's see what happens now.

go to your Internet options in your control panel, set your options to automatically empty tempory inet files and tempory cookies when you close your browser. Then you won't have to do it every day. I did this when I discovered that a site had dumped over 3000 nasties on me. Some were porn images stored in my casche (umm, forgot the spelling..ack) and a bunch of trojans with 3 virus bugs. Had a hard time cleaning that mess. Came from that Russian site that was stealing or artwork. Someone notified me one of mine was there. I'll never check there again even if they steal it all!

I run an antivirus and a spyware program, and I've never had either of them react to Rosity.

Carol, if you keep getting this, could you please do the following for me?

Right-click on each of the banners at the top, side and foot of the page that you're on when the alert comes up, and copy the URL for each one, and send them by email to admin@renderosity.com.

If you're using Firefox just do right-click and "Copy shortcut", if you're on IE I think it's right-click, properties, and then copy the url from the "image address" box.

We haven't had any other reports of this, but I'd like to rule out a problem with any advertisers.

I do IE, and after I emptied all my temporary internet files and TEMP files, I've not been bothered again.  Pretty wild huh?  I'll do what you said if it happens again.  Thank you!!!!
