Go to the Software Updates section of e-on's site if you want to try the new update. Long list of bug fixes. I'll wait to see how it goes for others first on this one.

Yes, not that brave at the moment, Bruno!  :)   I'm worn out this week.

Mazak, thanks for posting some details!  :)

I may be partial about this update, because I did have very few problems with previous version, except for the plants ones. Trying it out now, but so far so goof. Hope this will fix the mess for the mac. (macmess, new word?)

This is a very minor issue, but did anyone notice the C4D interface is missing in the  interface zip file download even though the description indicates it's included?

I've installed - running just fine on my PC.

I ran the VueMark7 test yesterday and got a score of 103. I ran it today again, with the new beta, and the score dropped 4 points, to 99. I changed nothing else. If you want to see details of which renders got slower, see here:

Yup, C4d is missing.  Dang and that's the one I need.

Rutra ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 8:04 AM

I uninstalled this beta and reverted back to the original version. Not only the new beta has a slower render, I also started getting strange effects I had not seen before, like the whole camera viewport going all blank.

bruno021 ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 9:03 AM

Weird, it's all good here, Artur...

Rutra ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 9:51 AM

Really? Hmmm... Have to give another go. I have a long history of very few problems with Vue, so when I see one I tend to panic. :-)

But Bruno, did you run the VueMark7 test before and after the update? I repeated the test after removing the beta and there's no doubt, most renders are slower with the new beta.

Note: the first time you run the VueMark7 with the new beta, it stops in one of the renders because it detects Sharp AA with lens glare, which causes artifacts (it proposes to change to Crisp AA). This is a new message of the new beta. So, you have to click on "don't show this dialogue again" and run the test from the beginning.

I've got the same error message - my benchmark totally failed :(.  In addition to the above error my rig won't render 11_peak unless I take it into Preview mode - otherwise I just get a screen blink.  06_Studio Loft will only render on a fresh open of V7I.

I sent in ticket to EON & it's been sent off to development as Lee stated none of the above could be replicated on his machines

XP x64 here using Nvida driver 178.24.  I have considered updating the video drivers to the latest - but the Nvida forums are flooded with bad things about this recent driver(release 11/19/2008) 180.48

Rutra ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 10:05 AM

My benchmark didn't fail, it just didn't run as fast as the previous one.
The biggest difference is in RadiosityRoom. With the original version it rendered in 125.7 seconds, with the new beta it rendered in 155.4 seconds.
The only render that was faster with the new beta was 11_Peak, which took 3 seconds less. The remaining ones were slower by between 1 and 6 seconds.

Depends on how you look at fail(it did complete) - with the last 2 scenes not rendering(see my post at C3d)my benchmark came in at 16637

I wish!

bruno021 ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 11:15 AM

Lol, Debbie, guess you don't need a renderfarm with such a high score!

dlk30341 ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 11:46 AM

LOL @ Bruno - what was odd as I watching the time Vue estimated the 1st 3 scenes according to Vue time should have rendered in about 7 seconds!  Needless to say they did not.

dlk30341 ( ) posted Fri, 28 November 2008 at 1:02 PM

As a note of interest here - I reverted back to the original release & the benchmark test moved along flawlessly :)
