Entitled "Santa Paints Your Picture"
I rushed to get this online, so there are multiple flaws (as the card sits now on the site) that will be ironed out over time, but the gist of it is still pretty cool. See, you can upload any photo, and that photo gets integrated into the animation, as if Santa Claus is painting it.
(One main flaw is that Santa finishes with his brushstrokes but the picture keeps getting painted, ha ha! Oh well, we'll fix it eventually)
Now, in this posted example, I personalized it with a "tasteful nude" done also in Poser:
ecard.hdgreetings.com/CompletedCard/xe8gfanbjf9v.flv
If you go to hdgreetings.com and look under Holiday cards or Photoinside cards, you will find the ecard, and can personalize it in any number of ways, most importantly by uploading a picture (that santa will paint onto the easel). If you send the card to someone, I recommend changing the music that's on there now (Joy to the World) to Jingle Bells, and turn the volume all the way down. Otherwise, key sound effects get completely obscured.
Anyway, I though it might interest many here, to recognize how thoroughly Poser the animation really is.
Now, if Poser could output a UV pass at 64 bit RGB (16 bits x 4 channels), I could do the Photoinside "magic" a lot better and easier. As it is, I am probably going to figure out a good Poser - Motionbuilder- Lightwave pathway that works for me, to get all the Poser goodies into Lightwave. Or, I might decide to just learn Maya or 3dsMax.
Okay: am I asking for feedback on the animation? Not really, I'm 100% certain of the * flaws and strengths of the ecard, but anyone needing to ventilate can feel free, I surely won't mind, but I won't necessarily respond either.
*for example, a partial list: the lip synch is rough at first, but synchs up pretty good after a few seconds.
The credits are shown too briefly, so the "done real sloppy by Eric Ryser" joke is likely to be missed.
Santa bends over to pick up the pallette on the stool, a bit too quickly.
Overall, the action parts are too fast, although a certain cartoonish effect is not unwelcome in this... etc, etc
