Daz is selling Dementia by Vampir3Princess and Lesthat, same product sold here by Val3DArt. I bought the one here. I pick up so many things that I forget sometimes what I have in my account. Not usually a problem because the store catches it and lets me know I already have the item. They don't sell it here anymore, but they have it under a new name at Daz and I almost picked it up there, which means it would not have been flagged that I already own it. I realize it's my responsibility to know what I own, but wondering why the name change? That's usually how I remember items as I'm trying to get them sorted out and that flags it for me. When there is a short sale and it's a pretty good one, I may grab it, though this time I came back to my items at Rendo and here it was in my history. Just saying be careful and double check.

I have that outfit as well from here, but mine is called Dementia as it is at DAZ. . Many vendors are switching over to DAZ for whatever reason. At least they have the 30 day money back gaurantee if you find you already own it!

Perhaps you should be databasing your content for quick referral.

Working on a database, have thousands of items and it's not easy. The products I see out there that claim to do it are just not up to snuff when it comes to actually getting the job done. Just over at Daz forums and see that folks over there are a bit upset as well. As for the database some items from different stores have the same name different item. If you list by creator and it's under a different creator name the database really wouldn't help if you don't know exactly what to look for.  So even if you have it logged in a database with search options you can still get tagged on something like this. Thinking I probably should just stop buying for a while and save my money for something else. Stuff is really starting to look all the same. 

I'm the opposite. I'll always remember the clothing item, not the merchant. I don't even pay attention to the merchant's name unless I see a fab item and take note for when the time comes to buy another product from them. Now my favorites...I know well. Know their styles too...

It is weird the name change though. That it has no resemblance to the one here. Val3Dart and Vampir3Princess/Lesthat are totally different. It's not even a combination or shortning of a name.

Actually it does make sense when you think about it.  Vampir3Princess and Lesthat are two people at DAZ.  Here at RMP Val can be a shortened form of Vampire3Princess and Lesthat :)

I now consider my obsessive nature regarding the need to categorize everything to be a bonus where the ordering of my 3D files is concerned! lol  :p

Hehehe! I am like you in that I usually recall the product's name, but not always the creator. If a product is absolutely exceptional or unique, I can't help but remember who created it.

Another problem that comes to mind, recycling character names for different models.  Now that is a nightmare when you have 5 different Sallys and no recollection how they look or who created them.

working on the database route myself. Started when I realize that 90% of making a Poser render was flipping through P3do (the program, not the robot...;) trying to figure out which product goes with which character...;)

This may be a nightmare to do retrospectively, but.....

What I have always done is have filenames in a coherent format.
When I download something new I archive it in the following format.

I start with the vendor name, then the character it is for then the name.
I have promo jpgs of the product too similarly named.

Eg. Merchant XYZ V4 Sally

Then you get each merchants product together ( I use seperate folders for that anyway)
Sub sort on base character, so all your V4 characters will be together alphabetically

Got to admit though, when you have texture sets it gets a little more complex & long winded.
I then start with the product it is for then the texture pack details.
This at least lets things sort together.

I sort my downloaded files by vendor and then by product number.

So for example, I'm a huge fan of Renapd and have a number of her items. I have a folder with her name on it, and inside I sort the files I have by their 5 digit product number found in the address.

I'm rather sorry I didn't take a different route to sorting though. In hindsight I think sorting by figure and then by theme would have been better.

Have all of V3 items in one folder, subsequently sorted by "shoes", "dresses" etc.  And then if there were any texture addons for something, they could go into the folder that contained the original outfit.   As it stands now, I have the original outfit (IE: Daz) in one folder, and then the addon textures for the outfit in a number of different folders based on the vendor who created the texture. Makes finding things to install a bit difficult.

DAZ has bought the outfits, so they are now DAZ originals. Vampir3Princess and Lesthat are selling under that name for 4 years at DAZ. The oldest product is from 2004 for the Girl.

 Yep me too.  I have an unreal amount of poser content.
I guess it is just one of those things that can't really be avoided.
