Subject: delaying the start of an animated object

I made a nice 3 second animation of a group of 4 poser actors interacting and imported into Vue 7 infinate where it worked nicely. Now however I found I need to animate the camera into the clip adding 3 seconds to the overall lenght. SO now my poser people have to be there as they can be glimpsed though the trees as we approach, but dont need to animate until the final 3 seconds of the now six second long clip.
If I do nothing they are done moving just as we full approach them., the opposite of what I want.
