Subject: Digital Carver's Guild plugpins for Carrara 7 Pro?

Letterworks ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2008 at 8:39 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 4:37 PM

Any word on when/if the DCG plug-ins are going to be updated for use in C7? I use WireFrame Pro and Anything Goos a LOT and sure hate having to switched betwenn the 2 Carrara versions for them.

thanks
Mike

C7 Beta versions are available from both Eric(DCG) and Shoestring Graphics now.
They work well in C7.

Expect the full upgrades of all, including Inagoni and Sparrowhawke as well in a few weeks (Still waiting on the SDK from DAZ)---the free plugins from Sparrowhawke will include a CLOTH! drape plugin!---WHACCO!

I downloaded the Beta updates and they are working fine for me in C7 Pro. Eric is really on top of it. I'm pretty sure all the plugin developers are still waiting for the final SDK to be released. So for now go here for the updates: http://digitalcarversguild.com/c7beta.php

Hey Brian,
I've been away - painting - and now I see I'm almost out of time to purchase C7Pro  -
did you pick it up?  If so, is the 3D paint feature usable?  Have you played with remaking a UV?  I could do what I do (poorly) in Hexagon now if it all works in Carrara.  I think I still have time to upgrade if I do it soon.

Hey, thanks for the links guys. I'd been over on the DCG site but missed the betas. I know Eric is usually really fast with the updates so I was sure they were coming just wasn;t sure if there was something holding them up (like the SDK).

bwtr, I'm really excited to see the news about Sparrowhawke's cloth plug-in!! It's something Carrara's really NEEDED since importing poser/DAZ content first becamae a feature. Well, then again so does DAZ Studio for that matter.

Once more thanks!

Here'sa quick render of a gas turbine (Jet engine) that I started in G6.2 with the WireFrame plug-in, which gives it a really nice effect.

Ominousplay
At the special prices--which have been extended I see--C7 is (just) ok as an update for my needs.
The 3D paint leaves me cold(frozen stiff!)--but I have been spoilt because I have 3D Coat.
(A bit like Blender!--IF you can come to terms with it it may be ok!)

C7 seems to work a bit faster. I am thinking the damn fixing of the glitches where you are stopped in mid breath--are NOT still fixed properly.

As I have said on another post, I have LW, XSI and etc----as a comprehensive, user friendly. 3D App, Carrara still stands out as brilliant.

Brian

PS--Having 3D Coat I, still, never have to do UVs!!!!! (It's all automatic and far above a level I would even think of doing!)

Thanks for getting back to me.  I did purchase C7Pro - while the wife wasn't looking ; )
I have a book project (personal - maybe professional some day) that I'm trying to illustrate and I can use the new features in Carrara to give me more tools - and hopefully less headache.  I've been using Carrara since Ray Dream - and before that I used another program... forget the name... but Ray Dream and Infinity were both so cool back in the day!  I never slept.  I look at what people are modeling and making with 3d and I know I'd never compete in the professional market, even though I've been playing with digital 3D for years.  Good thing I've got a day job.

I'm trying to add layers to a textured model so I can paint over the shader...

Happy New Year!

I've been playing with it a little.  It hasn't crashed!  Could C6Pro blur particle systems before? This is a quick snow movie. R

Do you remember that TV add. ?Microsoft, where coloured balls were raining down on the ground  along the streetsand bouncing back up a bit before settling.

I did a version or two of that idea in Carrara5 just for fun.

It must have been easy!
