..would some kind soul tell me why this is happening?

Looks like Poser is not welding the two groups, Could be for several reasons, Have you checked to see if the Shldr is parented correctly to the collar?, or has there been any morph work done on that piece where the seams were split?

Cannot see the left side too clearly but looks like it may have the same problem? Is there perhaps a missing group between the shldr and the chest area like maybe the collar group is missing?

Thanks for your reply! No morph work has been done on this.

Actually....I just modeled this in Hex this evening. I'm trying to learn how to make conforming clothing and finally....FINALLY....got this to work...well...at least up to this point.

So...that said..I'm not sure what you mean by 'parented to the collar? I started out with PhilC's video on rigging...but the resolution of the vid wasn't that good and when he was in the setup room, I was unable to read or see things as clearly as I would like (zooming was no help). Plus at some point the narration got ahead of the video, making things a bit more confusing, requiring me to run it over and over again. So...I'm a newbie to this, but determined to learn this.

I appreciate any help you can give me ,phantom3D. I've seen what you've been doing with Antonia and greatly admire the new hip rig you developed. Wish V4 had it. LOL!

Edit...just saw your other post. Yes, the other sleeve does the same.  And I do have a collar group (around the neck area), and there isn't any missing groups. Really bummed about that, too, ...did grouping in Hex, and for some reason it didn't 'take' or something, as I had to redo it in Poser.

Oh wait...just realized...I should have made the collar group bigger? instead of just around the neck area?

In your rig for the sweater it must use the same bones and groups as the figure (only what is needed for the area of the shirt). So for each side of the sweater from the chest there should be chest, rCollar, rShlder and left would go chest, lCollar, lShldr with groups in the sweater to match.

The internal names of the bones must exactly match the names of the groups in your sweater.
I dont have V4 in front of me but look at the bones in setup room and remember that each bone needs a group in your sweater. If you skip any groups in the sweater then the seams wont weld.  Also each group must isolate the next group. IE: if you have a collar group connected to the shldr group and next an arm group, no part of the arm group may be connected to the collar groupor they will not weld where they are connected.  Make sense?

Yes that's it, Your collar group must completely isolate your shldr group from the chest group. Your shldr group may not be connected to your chest group anywhere or it will not weld where it is connected. This is because collar is parent of shldr and shldr will only weld to it's parent, And it's children

Ok....I did get the internal names matched exactly...I knew to do that, so took pains to make sure.

But from what you said, apparently, I didn't group it right. I didn't make the collar group big enough...only around the neck area. So, if I change the grouping so that the order is right (chest, rCollar, rShldr), then it should work, right?

Makes sense now that I think about it. I was just SO happy when I got it to move! Then dissolved into tears when it ripped...sniffle.

But, hey..couldn't do any of this yesterday..well....except for the modeling. And there's still a lot there I need to learn!

Thanks for taking the time to help! I truly, truly appreciate it more than you know!

It's lots of fun, I made the exact same mistake on my first model and the thighs didn't weld.

I made a couple of diagrams to illustrate what I am saying. Because after reading I think what you mean by collar is not what I mean by collar.

In this first one it shows the groups and what is the parent of what.

In this next one it shows the groups, notice how no part of the Shldr group ever connects to the chest group it is isolated by the collar group. Your groups must be set up so they only connect to their parent and their children. Each group (or bone) has only one parent, but may have multiple children like chest does (in this example chest has 3 children rCollar, lCollar, and neck.)

Thank you for that. I understand what you mean now.

I got it to work...deleted what I had and started over. I used the V4Dev Suit for the rig (a bit quicker that way), but apparently when I was modeling the shirt, I got it just a bit too snug, and for some reason, when I conformed it to Vic, it dropped down into her body a bit. Had to raise it up some. sigh.... then scale..meh.

It bends fine, so far, though I need to adjust the joints for the shoulders. Need to re-run Phil's joint parameter vid and see if I can get it figured out. Need to get to bed though, starting to get sleepy.

I'll work some more with it tomorrow. Just think, I've got this far...now I've got morphs to look forward to...LOL!

Thank you so much for your help, phantom. I'm forever in your debt though I don't doubt I'll be back with more questions if I get stuck!
