Subject: Adding the poser runtimes

Okay I have done this before and read the new postings and even done a search but I still cannot understand how to add Poser runtimes to the Carrara content tab.

Okay the manual states:

  1. Go into the Browser, and click the Content tab.
  2. From the Options Menu, choose Add Runtime.
    The Browse for Folder dialog appears.
  3. Locate the folder that contains your Runtime
    files. Highlight the file and click OK or press
    Enter. The folder is added to the list of folders in
    your Content tab. You can use this procedure to
    add as many Runtime folders as you like. The
    following figure shows several different
    Runtimes as they appear in the Content Browser

Okay I go to the browser and I click the content tab and I get a setting that says content runtime but I am unable to find the options menu.  Please advise and I have clicked all around that darned interface.

Look on the right of the content browser.  You will see a small circle icon with a folder in the circle.  Click it.  See the attached image.

BUT, if you have spent a very badly, naughty, save everything, --especially free!----collection of stuff, over 4 or 5 years, you can end up with a list like this totalling over 60GB!

Tis quite crazy!

60GB?   LOL. I have a total of 1.5TB and another 500GB Hard Drive in the mail.  630GB of which is content.   Mostly Poser..

Organizing it is a pain in the butt.  I have been collecting since Poser came out. :)

LOL  Yeh, and that's not even counting Carrara files, OBJ, 3DS, LWO etc files.

Thanks for sharing your runtime screen. Now THAT looks like an excellent way to keep everything organized. It's giving me some ideas, like creating a V4 runtime...hmm...that might help me find things easier

If you want to get organized and find content more easily use this free utility.  It saves hours of hunting.

And if you want to have the library be able to pull content directly into Poser, use this script.

http://prpc.sourceforge.net/

They eliminate a lot of the hassle you get when you have large or multiple runtime folders.
