Subject: Free MetaPeeps

One of the things you can't do with the free version of Vue 7 Pioneer, is import Poser characters, or other geometry. Populating a scene with people is just about impossible.

Introducing MetaPeeps. I created 6 nifty characters which can be used to easily populate an existing scene. MetaPeeps render fast, and can be imported into any version of Vue 7. I've also included a MetaPeep EcoSystem which can quickly populate your world!

One of the really cool things about these little guys (and/or gals?) is their clothes automatically change colors depending on where in the scene you put them. So, 6 MetaPeeps with different clothing can create a realistic crowd. Check out the image to see what I mean. Bounce over to my blog and you can download them and the EcoSystem and have fun!

Wow, love the hooded and camouflage ones!

Rutra ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2009 at 4:31 AM

That is brilliant! On the distance, they're really a believable crowd. The idea of changing their clothes color was excellent. Congrats!

Cherryman ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2009 at 5:33 AM

Nice work!, is this possible with VUE 6 too?

vincebagna ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2009 at 5:35 AM

Wow! That's neat!

chippwalters ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2009 at 5:45 AM

Sorry, they won't import into Vue 6 as the file format is not  foreward compatible. I started modeling them in Pioneer and ended up finishing them off in V7 Infinite.

There's nothing in the models which would keep them from being created in V6, it's just that they were created in V7. Good luck!

Quote - but where are the ladies LOL!!!!!

The thought was they could be gender neutral. Originally names like Pat and Terry were used, but I ended up having to write over them when tweaking textures.

The idea was to create a simple 'person' with as few metablobs as possible- so as to not tax the computer, and not draw too much attention, via detail, to characters. Think of them as a stylized sketch or caricature, which when viewed from a distance, might pass for a human.

No problems Quote - "but where are the ladies LOL!!!!! " Chipp. You were very generous in creating and distributing them for free.

Thank you very much. The idea is excellent. I encountered the memory problem on importing several Poser figures in Vue. Could you make more metapeeps? Could you make a Vue6 version too? For now I can't use V7I because of the Poser import problems, so I'm still using Vue6I. If you don't make them for free, I definitely would buy them :)

WOW is that cool and sooo generous of you.  Thx mucho

craftycurate ( ) posted Thu, 08 January 2009 at 12:38 PM

Chipp ... as I'm still on Vue 6 I for now, I wonder if you would be able to publish the function used to vary colour? I can use in 7 Pioneer, but not in Vue 6.

Thanks
Richard

Chipp, this is amazing, and your generosity is very much appreciated!

Your use of color variation is brilliant.

dburdick ( ) posted Fri, 09 January 2009 at 1:16 AM

Brilliant idea Chipp - they look very realistic especially when compared to crowds I've seen in some European cities - LOL.  I can think of a number of ways to use these - thanks!

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2009 at 8:39 PM

H,thankyou very much for these and I have an idea. If you ever get the time or inclination, could you make a kind of cocktail party crowd as well, for backgrounds in say a large casino scene?
